Mike Shanahan lays down the law

Early in minicamp, Mike Shanahan read out a list of rules to his players in a meeting room, covering behavior on and off the practice field. Sunday, when his team was out on the field for a final time, he reviewed the rules -- "reemphasized some of the finer points," one player joked -- and let the Redskins know how they'd done.

Damn! I think my next t-shirt will say "It's not gay if it's with Shanahan."

anyways I like the stay out of the way, run through the drills, etc stuff

mike williams commented that they're not doing walk-throughs.. they're doing run-throughs

Wow...if the Redskins don't win some games under Shanahan, I can see this situation turning ugly really fast. If he's going to hold grown men to such a high standard, they better be rewarded with some wins.

There are coaches that are bigger sticklers than MS

I'll be interested to find out how he reacts after a tough loss or a blowout loss. How he'll corral the general morale of the team to bring them into the next game.

Re: Mike Shanahan lays down the law

yeah coughlin and the giants went thru a tough honeymoon with vet players (tiki and strahan?) upset about how they were being treated. i remember giants players mad that they couldnt even cut across any corner of the field if they were coming onto and off the field, they had to walk the line all the way around. or something like that.

result? freakin SB the next year. i thought for sure coughlin was a goner with the way such respected vets spoke out.

a lil like darrell green and some others when marty took over and started setting curfews, lights out, mandatory sleep overs during TC with roomates they select for you, etc.

i like it.

Re: Mike Shanahan lays down the law

Seems like pretty standard stuff for a football team to me, if anyone can't hack this type of stuff they don't belong on this team to start with.

Re: Mike Shanahan lays down the law

For all those who were clamoring for Bill Cowher instead of Shanahan:

Quote:
"He's just laying the law," said Willie Parker, who said there were "most definitely" more rules here than in Pittsburgh. "He's definitely got rules, and he expects you to follow them....He wants us to do it his way, and eventually it's gonna better the team. I have a great feeling for that. He wants to run a tight organization and I'm all for it."

We have a real Sheriff in this town now. Long overdue and well needed.
