Is there anyone left in New Jersey?

So I'm driving back from BWI today and just noticed something that dawned on me today after slowly noticing it over the course of maybe six or seven years.

Is there anyone left in New Jersey?

I drove a rental in California and Nevada all last week and if the car wasn't from either state, it was from New Jersey. I drove home about four hours today and it was the same situation. Just wondered if anyone from New Jersey had any ideas why...

New Jersey was the second most represented state in the university I went to and it's also the most represented at the university I now work at. Both of my roommates in college were from NJ, and their basic opinion was that they were proud of NJ but also couldn't wait to get the hell out. Anyone have idea why or am I just insane?

I only have a vague understanding of The Situation, but I think that's someone from the Jersey Shore.

I'm actually really interested in an answer!

I live just north of B-more right off 95. Every time I am on 95 the road is packed with NJ plates, I always say to my wife do they ever stay in their state?

Re: Is there anyone left in New Jersey?

Well they come to VA to retire at a young age. I see them retiring around age 55 or even younger because of the strong unions. They then move out of NJ to get away from high taxes and high cost of living. They sell their 2000 sq. ft. house and come here and buy 3500 sq ft home for less. Some stay retired but alot of them will go back to work while receiving that nice pension from NJ. In the next month I'll start gettin calls from people moving from NJ needing to transfer their ins. Most of them are great people and several of them have also become friends that I play golf with.

NJ has a complex about being NY's neighbor, so they ship people out across the nation, just to show that they exist, and are separate.

Interesting. Makes a lot of sense when I think about the stately manors around here that get snatched up by NJ people.

PA.

NYers and NJians have been migrating to PA and DE to escape their ridiculous taxes, government corruption and liberal policies for about a decade.

They've been going farther south as well. When I was around 10 in southern VA we had quite a few move into my very rural town, which was nice because there were some non-backwoods people finally and a few good looking girls. They're all over southwest VA too. Shame is when they try to open up something like a dog cafe out in the mountains with their savings and then it fails because they didn't bother to research what people in the area might want.

There are def a lot in VA and NC though from my experience.

LOL. That is SO true. There's a NJ family that opened a smoothie bar in our town. Closed in 3 months. Worst...idea...ever.

I have never met so many people from such a small state. I think it's safe to say that I've met at least 20 people from New Jersey in Georgia alone. It was probably more at a summer camp I attended in Massachusetts some odd years ago. I also know a TON of people in hollywood are from New Jersey. How can such a small state produce so many people? I swear it drives me crazy.
