Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

Must take a shower every night right before I go to sleep. Doesn't matter if I took one earlier in the day, I'll go crazy if I don't feel clean before going to sleep. Unless of course I'm dead tired which might have happened once or twice in the last 3 years.

Washing my hands and organizing my data (music, videos, pictures). Oh and I can't help but checkout my fiancée's booty as she walks by.

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

Organization and cleanliness. I'm not at a Monk level, but I can't relax in my living room if I know there are dirty dishes in the sink. That sort of thing. And my closet is meticulous. Shirts organized in order from long-sleeved button-down on down to short-sleeved polo with the hanger tip facing inward.

Also, similar to Saden, if my electronic data isn't in order I get antsy, yet I'm not obsessed with all things electronic.

I have a pretty meticulous routine at night time as far as getting ready for the following day. Every night before I go to bed, I make sure the next morning's clothes are folded and laid out for me (regardless if it's gym or work clothes). I also have to make sure the coffee is set to brew. Despite the world's attachment to electronic gadgets, I'm one of the few people I know who still use a handwritten day-planner. So most importantly, in the last 10 to 20 minutes before I go to bed, I make a detailed to-do list for the following day in my planner. I find that having that handwritten outline to start the day is a huge motivator.

So that's me and my touch of OCD.

lol your touch seems to be a firm grasp

I guess that I'm a sucker for the sink as well.. if I see something in it I'll take care of it.. but it's nothing for me to have like 6 diff cups that I use for water on my nightstand either

I never lay out my clothes even when I know what exactly I'm going to wear.. with my organization I know where it is and don't want to lay it out anywhere

the obvious exception being if it's dress clothing in which I obviously leave out or treat beforehand

the written planner is something that I don't let go of either.. it may not be done meticulously or even on time but I make it accessible and my employees are accountable for what's in it

as far as a personal planner, don't have one

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

some random ones

-kitchen sink must always be clean

-bed must be made each morning

-a pen with a cap that's not in use, always need to make sure that cap is on. If I'm in someone's office and I see a pen lying on the desk without the cap on, I'll put that cap on.

-dresser drawers must always be fully closed (I have to hear the sound of the wood of the drawer hitting the wood of the dresser)

-on an airplane that little thing (don't know what it's called) that keeps the food tray in the upright and locked position I need that to be straight (not at any angle) and I've leaned over other passengers (while they're sleeping) to make sure there's is straight too

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

When I tighten the screws on light switches or power outlets they all have to be vertical.

Funny how many people mention the sink, because if we have dirty dishes laying on the counter or sink, I'll have a mini-anxiety attack because I hate that so much.

When I'm grilling a steak I'm really careful to get the grill marks in exact right angles to one another, creating perfect square patterns on the meat.

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

I have none. Nada. Zilch.

Dirty dishes? eh, I'll get them tomorrow (probably). Bed unmade? no problem, I'll just mess it up later. Forgot to take a shower? Well, I'm not going out today anyway. Files disorderly? It's okay, I know which pile is which (basically).

Drives my wife insane. Me? I chose to live stress free.

Just reading this exhausted me. As to motivation - I find two kids and a couple mortgages to be an incredible motivator.

For the most part this is me. My desk is currently a wreck (like always) but I know where everything is. Organized chaos.

Exceptions for me:

- The steak thing mentioned above.

- Keeping the same spot in the living room after the Skins win, changing it after they lose. Washing my Portis jersey after they lose, not washing it after they win.

- My finances. I track and categorize my spending and reconcile any unclassified amounts on a monthly basis.

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

I'm very anal when it comes to my car. I have swiffer dusters in my glove box so I can keep the dash dust free at all times. Gotta wash it inside and out at least once a week too.

Re: what are your ocd tendencies?

My only real thing is that I must take a shower every morning when I get up. I could have plans at 9:00am to craw under the house but first I must take my shower so I have a nice clean start to the day.

I also don't like squeaks or rattles and will go crazy until I fix them. Its does not matter if its the car, boat, house, or what ever it must be fixed. Last Saturday I was playing golf and the cart had a very bad squeak and every chance I got I was trying to fix the noise. Finally after nine holes i switched carts while my buddy laughed at me.

Matty - I have one of these in the car: California Car Duster Company - The Original California Dash Duster. They are awesome, and the dirtier they are, the better they work.

I've got a few minor tendencies. Left sock and shoe on before my right. Keys always in left pocket, wallet and phone in right pocket. After my shower, it's q-tip to ears, comb hair, deodorant in that order. The cash in my wallet always has to be facing the same way, smallest bill on outside to largest bill in the middle.
