Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

Is time to stop talking about Fat Albert, Favre, Riggins, etc. The Redskins are about to have another member in the HOF and it's time to talk about him. When Monk and Green were going into the HOF people were going crazy in the forum. Now lets have Grimm take the spotlight.

Re: Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

I guess the thing about Russ is he is not a big flashy CB or WR. Russ was a hard working man, bring the lunch box type player. Gave guys like Monk, Riggins, and all of our offensive weapons all the glory while he beat the crap out of the Dline and LBs. He is one of the Great Redskins in my mind of all time. One of the very best linemen we have ever had and a great character.

There needs to be more Hogs in Canton.

I am stoked that Russ is getting in and I will be watching on Saturday.

Why am I not surprised this thread has so few posts.

So happy for Grimm, long overdue that a Hog got in to the Hall

I think some of it has to do with the age of most people on the board. It seems as though we have alot of young members who may not know much about Russ.

It's too hard to be positive for a lot of folks.

Also speaks to why it took so long to get Grimm in. His name creates little fanfare.

Re: Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

I just got back from my first trip to the Pro Football HoF (3 weeks ago)
I made sure to have my wife take a picture of me with Russ Grimm's picture which is now in the main lobby of the HoF along with all of the other 2010 inductees. A great trip!!! and as a 41 year old and Redskins fan since the late 70's, I remember the Hogs vividly. I am thrilled that Russ Grimm is getting inducted this weekend.

I always thought Mayday was going to be better than Grimm due to his higher draft status, but draft position isn't everything. Every fan knew who was the better Hog by the end of that first year together. The whole Hogs line should be inducted, but that's a story line for another time.

Yeah, I noticed in the story that he didn't campaign for the Hall like some people do. He just let his play do the talking. Down-to-earth class all the way, hot dogs aside.

Re: Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

Russ was the Art Monk of linemen. Quiet, understated but one of the most intense competitors on the field. Joe Jacoby should be next on the list as well as Gary Clark, Dave Butz and Charles Mann. All deserving of consideration for the hall.

Re: Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

Grimm is very deserving and finally one of the HOGS is in...Of my early memories of watching the Skins, the most consistent memory was that of the play of the Oline. I just remember how annoucers, game commentators would get so excited about the our Oline play, especially how we run the ball and especially my favorite play the old Counter-Trey...man they would just open holes you could drive a truck through and just dump defenders....HTTR!!!

Re: Russ Grimm On Canton, Hot Dogs, and The Hogs

Even though I'm too young to remember the glory years, I am very happy for Grimm finally getting his due and I will be watching his induction tonight with my friends. It's a hard thing to get guys from your team in the Hall and we've had 3 inducted in the last 3 years, which is great.

I'm very happy for him and I'm sure the rest of the Hogs are there supporting him because as of now he is the rep for the whole group in the HOF.

haha when you said the part about the announcers I was going to reply how often you'd hear "you could drive a truck through that hole"
