Throw some names at me

I am working on the 4th Annual Mike Nelms Thanksgiving Signing Feast. For those of you who don't know, it is an event we put on as a fund raiser/attention getter for the local food bank to help buy turkeys for the holiday season.

We always try to price the autographs in the 10-15 dollar range - so the John Riggins/Art Monks of the world are not in the budget. I look for names that don't usually do the circuit, but are enough of a draw that people want to come out. This year I am hoping to have about 10-12 athletes there. For those of you who are interested, we will also have some of the bikini models (including Sarah for those of you who know what brought me to this message board).

So far, we have booked
Maxie Baughan, Bubba Tyer, Rickie Harris, Reggie Evans and Fred Dean. Of course Mike will also be there.

Last year we had, Sonny Randle (UVA & Cards), Mark Washington (Cowboys), Ron Saul, Doc Walker & Roy Jefferson. The year before that we had Walt Rock, Pat Fischer, Ron McDole, Mike Bragg and Ken Harvey. The first year we had, Charley Casserley, Mark Moseley, Perry Brooks, Darryl Grant and Andre Collins. Of course, ever year Mike Nelms is there.

I am looking for suggestions of names that you guys would like to meet. Most of the 1972 guys are out since I had them at another event this year for Children's Miracle Network. I also try to space some time with guys I have brought in for other events (like the for profits).

It is also easiest if the guys are in the DMV area. You now have the challenge, let's see what you can come up with.

Some interesting names on here. I will have to do a little research for some contact information. I will say we just brought Butz into the same mall on July 3rd for a free event with Dexter, so he won't work. A couple of the other names won't work for other reasons.

Thanks for the ideas, it does help jump start my brain - anyone else?

Yes, Mark was at our first event. I actually talked with him last week. He is scheduled to be out of town the weekend of the event and we tentatively have him scheduled for the next years event.

Great name and keep them coming.

George Starke was at our 72 Redskins reunion in March. Mark was at the same mall on July 3rd with Butz and Manley. Monte coaches college ball and is not available during the season (even Mike thought of him).

Chris was actually here in May for our follow up event on the 72 Reunion.

Bugel is interesting and will have to do some research.

Keep em coming, you all are definitely being a help.

Charley was just at another event in March down here. Clint is currently running for the senate, so a November event is not in the cards. I talked to Joe early on, and he has a schedule conflict.

Again, Keep em coming. You see why I am in need of help knocking some of the cobwebs free.

he's one of my heroes - being the last straight on kicker in the nfl. i've always been a straight on kicker and will be when i try to walk on when i transfer from my current cc to a school with a football program. i need to get my fg range back up to 40-45 yards to have any real chance.

as far as other names; is jim lachey around?

Jim Lachey does/did the radio for Ohio State. We brought him in a few years ago. He was a very nice guy. Just have to schedule things with him not during the football season.

I do appreciate the input and please keep it up. I already have 4 more names to work on directly from and from thoughts based on what has been posted.
