Last Combat Troops Leave Iraq
Well. Looks like Obama did live up to at least 1 thing he promised.
Last U.S. combat convoy has left Iraq - CNN.com Thanks to all the men and women who have been out there and who are still out there.

Re: Last Combat Troops Leave Iraq
Angry have you served in the Middle East, at least in this decade? Or did you do a tour back in the 90's?
Either way it's good for our guys to be getting out of there. I appreciate the sacrifices they've made over there so things aren't like that over here. I do believe though that us leaving there means Al Qaida/Taliban is going to make a strong push to take over there again now that we're gone. Aka in the end Saddam may be gone, but huge strides probably won't be made. |

Re: Last Combat Troops Leave Iraq
Uh yes, and yes I have only been out for 4 years. The first time that I was in the Middle East was for Operation Desert Fox in 1998. The last time I was there was in 2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2005 I got a cush instructor job on Ft. Gordon and in Sept 2006 I got out of the Army. To this day I still work very closely with the Army.

Seriously, thank you for the service, men and women of the military. I have a close friend and his brother who did at least 3 tours each with the 82nd AB in some VERY dangerous assignments. Without their sacrifice, we'd all be dead most likely. I have a niece preparing to leave for Afghanistan shortly for a year with the National Guard too. Angry and SS84.

When did they start allowing women in the national guard. No wonder it took us so long to get out of Iraq. They probably talk the enemy to death. Next thing you know thay will be letting gays in the service as long as they don't say they are gay. |

Re: Last Combat Troops Leave Iraq
Just read about it this morning.
A big thank you for all the men and women who now hopefully will get to spend thanksgiving and the holidays at home with their loved ones. I want to send a prayer and RIP out to "bubba" who i went to school with at bullis and wrestled with. He passed away last year in Afghanistan. When someone passes away they always seem to be glorified as the best person to walk the earth but this guy was a great person, person of character even at such a young age. I was new to the school, he and his family were very closely tied to the school, his mother worked there and he went out of his way to make me feel welcome, especially on the wrestling mat. I got some funny stories about full battle rattle, sandstorms, taking dumps and soldiers jerking their junk. I also have a couple about prostitution rings being ran out of the ice trucks. |

Re: Last Combat Troops Leave Iraq
I am kind of preterbed about the headline of the article. There are still 56,000 troops over there. Saying that the last combat convoy has left Iraq does not sit well with me. All soldiers are combatants and all combatants are still armed. Those soldiers will still travel in convoys carring a basic load. We still have a presence there and to say that it is over is disrespectfull to those who are still there.
