re: Updated: Hanburger in Hall
Glad to hear this is a step closer to happening. There were several guys on the 72 team that made comments about Chris going to more pro bowls than any other Redskin, and not being in the HOF already.

Yes! Yes! My boyhood idol and favorite Skin. The guy definitely deserves the HoF.

Definitely deserves a spot. I remember when I use to sit in section 416 an elderly lady, must have been in her 70's, wore a Hanburger jersey. She really must have been in good shape, she'd climb up those 23 rows like it was nothing. Didn't miss a game either.

When I was a boy I had a pet heifer cow who I named "Christina Hanburger." That alone should get him in the HoF.

re: Updated: Hanburger in Hall
Chris called me last night to update me on a mutual friend with some health problems. We talked about his nomination. He was happy to be recognized with the nomination. For Chris, him admitting that says something.

Chris told me about the Post sending a photographer for this picture, so I found the article:
Chris Hanburger, a former star linebacker for the Redskins, is a low-key Hall of Fame nominee |

He retired before I was old enough to really get into watching football, wish I could have gotten to see him play for the Redskins.

re: Updated: Hanburger in Hall
When Hanburger came out of college there were far fewer teams involved in the draft, so the NFL draft went on for more than 20 rounds.
As I recall, he was an 18th or 19th round pick. I think he played in 9 Pro Bowls. Not bad for a guy who was passed over by every team more than a few times...

re: Updated: Hanburger in Hall
Fitting end for a man who initially didn't have an overwhelming desire to play the game of football. For an undersized LB, he was truly an exceptional player, the HOF definitely should await him. He was a thrill to watch play.

Longtimefan:
Two things: 1. It indeed was a treat to watch Hanburger play. He played with his brain in addition to his body. 2. I love your signature line. I might just use that one of these days in a context outside the Warpath. If I do, I'll send you a link...
