A Different Perspective

I thought this was kind of interesting (from The Washington Post)

Quote:
Offensive coordinator Don Breaux spent the last two games calling down suggestions from the press box after spending the first 10 games on the sideline as Redskins coaches tried anything they could think of to get the team out of its offensive slump. Coach Joe Gibbs plans to stick with the change -- quarterbacks coach Jack Burns also is stationed in the press box to get an overhead perspective.

Breaux was the impetus behind the shuffle pass to Portis near the goal line that resulted in the team's second touchdown Sunday. The team put in three wide receivers to spread the defense and get defenders out of the middle of the field, then had quarterback Patrick Ramsey flip the ball to Portis across the line of scrimmage, allowing him to score easily.
I can't remember, so someone please refresh my memory. Where did these guys watch the games from during Gibbs 1.0?

I think the first time they tried this was against the Steelers. I can't recall them doing it the first go round.

Looks like it's been working, so I say stick with it.

This Just Shows That Gibbs Will Make The Adjustments Needed To Turn This Team Around. Did You See That Gibbs Wants Ray Brown Back In 2005. He Did Not Say For A Starter Or A Back Up.

I also like Breaux's shuffle pass suggestion. Very nice call.

If it works, keep him up there. Too many TV commnetators were mocking him and his reading glasses on the sideline anyway.

Whatever it takes, so long as it works and they start winning games again.

It just proves the point that Gibbs is a true student of the game and learns. We'll be in great shape for 2005.

scoring at all was a nice change of pace.

Im glad hes getting away from his one and two receiver routes.

Remember Gibbs first season, started 0-5, won his last four games to go 8-8, then superbowl the next year....we didnt start 0-5 but we can win the last four and win the superbowl

I remember seeing Breaux on the sidelines during 1.0....I'm not really sure how many teams were using coaches in the press box during the 80's if any.

Ray Brown turns the big 4-2 on Sunday. I'm sure he'd like a Redskins victory for his birthday!

By the way, has Jon Jansen been on the sidelines at all? I see Michael Barrow there all the time and I had heard Jansen might be there later in the season. So far I haven't seen him
