Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
This is my bayonet collection.
Mostly Czech, Yugoslavian, Russian, and Turkish.

re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
Cool stuff dude. I dont collect military surplus, but I do like antique military rifles. I have right now a 1943 Mosin Nagant with a period correct scope, and I am in the process of buying a M1 Garand Carbine...
Nice collection man, seriously.

Re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
My mosin is my favorite rifle of all. My dad got it for me for my 25th birthday. It came with all of the original tools, oil can, sling, and it has a working bayonet.
The one i got had never been fired. Rifle is very accurate, I am able to fire 1" groups at 100 yards. Scope needs fine tuning i think, at about 250 yards it seems hit or miss sometimes. Do yourself a big favor and buy the american made, non-corrosive ammo. The old russian surp is very cheap and very available, but it makes cleanup messy. I've shot about 100 rounds of the non-corrosive type, and the inside stays fairly clean. The difference to me was night and day.

Re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
Corrosive ammo is no big deal if you understand it properly. The salt in the primer is what attracts moisture = corrosion/rust. I just bring the popular solution which is a bottle of Windex and spray down the bore and the bolt then do my regular cleaning, then oil.
Its really quite easy. A few years ago when it was ultra cheap I bought a few thousand rounds of surplus 7.62x54R and continue to shoot it.

Re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
The Mauser bayonets are similar, especially the scabbard.
There are bayos in that picture for Russian 91/30's, Yugo M48, Czech 98/22, Yugo 24/47's and Turkish 1938 long and short.

Re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
Here's a typical "spam can" of the surplus 7.62x54R I bought.
This can happens to be Albanian.

Re: Anyone collect military surplus stuff?
You'll also notice the difference in the barrel rings. Some are extended and some are not. They will only fit on their respective guns.
