R.I.P. Dave Duerson

Former Bear Duerson dies | Comcast.net

Played with the great Chicago Bears defense of the mid 80's.

It's degenerative, basically your brain's ability to function properly slowly wears away, memory, cognitive thinking, etc decline. Often causes depression.

Re: R.I.P. Dave Duerson

Hopefully Commissioner Goddell will hold true to his word and increase $$ for the study, research of head trauma injuries a priority. Also increase the investment for research of new helmets and equipment.

He needs to worry less about increasing the regular season and thus increasing violent contact and the chance of head injuries. The season is long enough already, the players take a beating already. OTA's, Mini camps, training camp, preseason and regular season is a lot of football.
The players get unfairly pressured into participating in all of them. If they do not, they get brutalized in the press and by crazy fans.
A veteran player that is skilled and knows his teams system does not need to participate in all of these. It is for the rookies and new players to the team.
The system has to change.

I think he was one of the bears' players that missed Darrell on the punt return in the divisional playoff....

Wow. When you put it that way, they should definitely not consider adding anymore games.

R.I.P. Dave Duerson. Goddell needs to make sure the NFL vets are taken care of.

Ex-NFLers battle with brain trauma may help explain why Dave Duerson committed suicide

Re: R.I.P. Dave Duerson

How does a player get unfairly pressured into participating ?
If the coach says show up and practice, you show up and practice.
If the boss says get to work, you get to work....
Sound like union coddling mentality to me.
