Sweet 16 Who Would You Bid On
Tonight our club has a cook out and we auction off the remaining 16 teams and I really don't follow basketball. I usually do not go after a top team because they go for $300 plus so I'm looking to bid on one of the long shots. Keep in mind we also pay for the person who has the team that gets beat by the largest margin (I have won that twice by luck). So with that in mind which two or three teams would you bid on?

Re: Sweet 16 Who Would You Bid On
Quote:
- The team is almost entirely seniors - They rarely turn the ball over - Their defense is stifling, they hold their opponents to very low shooting % - Kevin Anderson has ice in his veins, guy hits so many shots with the game on the line - Justin Harper is a genuine pro prospect - They're capable of going on insane 3-point streaks, they have 4 very good 3 point shooters, including their center. 3 point streaks are how you take down a giant like Kansas, everything has to go right, and then you must get hot from 3 land. They can do it, they beat Purdue earlier this year doing the same thing. All that stands in their way is Kansas. A tall order no doubt, but after that, it's the winner of Florida State and VCU to go to the Final Four. And there's always the chance Kansas rolls over them and you win for biggest blowout. SPIDERS!!!

Outside of UNC, I want Butler to take it this year.

Re: Sweet 16 Who Would You Bid On
Richmond is a great long shot. FD, I would look a Wisconsin too, 4th seed with a solid team who, much like Richmond, run a different system that could give other teams fits. Wisconsin gotta a great coach too.
If you want to take the team most likely to win, Id put that on OSU.

Re: Sweet 16 Who Would You Bid On
OSU - this is your $300 team. not good value.
UK - probably will go for decent value since they're playing OSU MARQ - maybe decent value but not much of a shot to win it all UNC - they're overrated..don't buy DUKE - another 300 team ARIZ - good dark horse..they'll be cheap UCONN - probably not good value...they're not as good as they have been playing SDSU - this team makes me go "Ehhh" KANSAS - might be the best value of the teams with a legit shot to win it all RICH - Schneed's right...they might get thumped. VCU/FSU - toss up here...both are going to go for more than they're worth..someone has to win and then they're a game closer. I like FSU better but if the Rams start hitting 3s then it's over Butler - is gonna lose Wisc - is the darkest horse of the legit teams. Will be good value. BYU - At some point Jimmer won't be able to do everything for them. Don't buy. FLA - not a great team...and super inconsistent |

Re: Sweet 16 Who Would You Bid On
Schneed my dad also went to Richmond and they are my first pick but I think they will go for too much $ because they are the local team. I hate bidding on stuff that I have no clue about. Three or four years back you could get a team for $35 and the top teams would stay under $200 but the bidding has really jumped up the past few years. We have some members that waisting $600 to $800 dollars on a few picks is like us throwing down $30 or $40.

Putting this in the general parking lot instead of "other sports" makes this thread title seem kind of creepy

I'd go Butler or FL.
