Replacement Players
Sports Illustrated had a poll and found that 63% of the people polled said they WOULD watch NFL games with replacement players.
Everyone take a deep breath here. Things are still VERY far away from anything like "Replacement Games". But since there is nothing real to talk about with regard to the NFL at the moment while Judge Nelson is writing her ruling - - I have to think she has made up her mind by now and is simply crafting her decision into legal language - - why not pose the question here: Would you watch NFL games if they used replacement players? Before answering, remember what TV viewing options for sports on Sundays exist in the Fall: 1. MLB playoffs and World Series 2. Pac-12 MIGHT put a game of the week on Sunday this year 3. NASCAR 4. Golf 5. Bowling 6. Poker 7. Tennis 8. Rodeo 9. Fishing Personally, I would probably watch Replacement Games unenthusiastically because the alternatives are even less appealing.

Re: Replacement Players
Why do people keep bring up Replacement players in this topic? You do realize this isn't the players striking, it's the owners locking out the players. There cannot be or will not be any replacement players during a lockout. It defeats the point of a owner lockout.
Also, sure we might watch games with replacement players, but would you still pay 5-10K on tickets, parking, etc to watch people with inferior talent? Hell no. They should ask these same people if they would pay the same amount in these polls. My guess is you'd have a shit ton of more people saying absolutely not rather than yes. |

^ right NC Skins. I wouldnt watch scabs regardless...I wish to god everyone that has the NFL ticket or any NFL subscriptions would pick up their phone and cancel that sh*t and vote how they feel with there wallet. I really pissed in these tough economic times how selfish both sides have acted, Goodell IMO has been piss poor throughout the CBA bullsh*t

Re: Replacement Players
I would watch replacement games on TV but as a season ticket holder and DTV Sunday Ticket subscriber...I would be VERY opposed to paying for them.
The NFL has already said that replacement players are not an option.

Re: Replacement Players
I would watch but I would not worry about missing plays. I might even answer the phone during the game. It would be more like watching regular season basketball for me. I watch it, but I'm not glued to the tv.

Re: Replacement Players
I'm guessing a large majority of that 63% in favor aren't old enough to remember 1987 very well.
Personally I wouldn't watch and I definitely wouldn't pay for the Sunday Ticket to watch scrubs. |

Re: Replacement Players
I remember the 87 games. It was alright because it was kind of like theater, or watching a live news telecast because you want to see what happens, even though it ain't pretty. After a few games the novelty of that wears off though. It would be tough to sit through 16 games of it.

I think people would tune in the first few games, but the ratings and attendance would drop off pretty sharply once people see the "quality" of these games is sorely lacking. |

Re: Replacement Players
I agree. In 87 it was about like watching the XFL cause those guys had little time to prepare & so many of them were just off the streets. I remember hearing stories from people afterwards like, 'my friend's a bartender down at such & such pub, but last month he was starting at TE for the Skins!'

Re: Replacement Players
It's kind of funny how people talk about not wanting to see replacement players in the NFL...yet at the same time you hear about how players are overpaid and overrated money grubbing bastards who get paid to play a game. "Try getting a job in the real world" I thought these guys were a dime a dozen?

Re: Replacement Players
I have already made plans to purchase my tickets as of May 1st. I haven't yet decided what to do in the event a decision is made to actually go with replacement players. In 1987 I did attend the games because I realized they were going to count in the standings regardless of who the players were. Had we not won those games it's likely we would not have won the SB that year either. I have plenty of time to decide.
ps/ I'll be refunded if games are cancelled. It's no biggie one way or the other.
