Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
There is speculation around Robert Quinn as to whether or not he'll be a boom or bust prospect.
Boom: - He's a fast freakish DE compared to Julius Peppers and DeMarcus Ware - He hasn't reached his full potential - He's arguably the best pass rusher in the draft Bust: - 9 of his 11 sacks came against bad teams. (I'd consider ECU bad but they had a winning record that year) - He has a medical history - He missed all of this year and had one good year I see people have him going to us in our mock drafts. I'd love to have him; then I saw Peter Kings article Carolina Panthers request junior college tape on Cam Newton - Peter King - SI.com pointing out where his sacks came from and it got me thinking as to who was the last good pass rusher who had sacks against 'bad' teams and no good teams. So what do you say skin fans? Want him or don't want him? Boom or Bust?

Solid boom. Won't be as good as Orakpo but will be in his neighborhood.

"All 9 of his 11 sacks"? I mean I'm pretty bad at math but...

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I noticed that also, but he will be a boom depending on where he goes which is what they say about everyone.

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I was gonna comment on that line when I first read it. I think this guy is a bad pick at 10.

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
He's my first choice for us (unless Miller falls into our lap). I think he's a boom. Quinn in first and Phil Taylor in the 2nd. Let's build our D.

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I rather move down a couple spots and take Phil Taylor, LB Houston, Jordan from Cal or A. Smith than Quinn.

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I'd rather have Marvin Austin truth be told.
I don't like the fact he's only got 1 sack against 8 ranked teams. What do you think he's going to do with top tier talent in the NFL? Also, he's a DE and we are going to convert him to a OLB who can't cover either? I think one OLB with bad coverage skills is enough on this team. |

I would be happy if he's selected at 10 but not disappointed if they go another direction. I think a 3-4 OLB can be trained in a couple of years to be pretty decent. Not saying that there are a ton of UDFAs out there like James Harrison, but TE & OLB are 2 positions that seem to be in high supply these days. There are a lot of great athletes that size in college football. If Quinn or one of the other OLBs isn't taken by us, I see them taking at least 1 in the late rounds plus a couple UDFAs to try & find that diamond in the rough. Guess that goes for all of our draft needs! |

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I mean one of the "booms" is he's compared to DeMarcus Ware, and then a bust is he's only done so much against good competition. But I mean Ware played in the Sun Belt Conference so across the board his competition wasn't the elite of the NCAA.
My preference is move down and get more picks, but at #10 I'm perfectly fine with him

Re: Robert Quinn: Boom or Bust?
I am not going to compare Quinn with Bradford but last year I thought that being out with an injury for most of his last year was going to affect Bradford negatively. Obviously that wasn't the case, so if this guy is talented, being out should not affect him much. Now the medical aspect could be an issue if he is injury prone in his first couple of seasons.
