Which Current Players do You Believe Will Go On To Coach
In light of Fletcher getting the band together for a minicamp I was wondering which current players around the league do you guys feel will turn to coaching after their playing days are over.
Here's a little list of players who have already made the jump Mike Munchak - When NFL Coaches Were Players - Photos - SI.com

Manning yes, not sure Ray Lewis would be the type to coach, but if Singletary tried it, I guess he could, but I don't think he would be very successful. To be a great coch you truly need to be a student of t he game. My guess would be ex Qbs in the modern era would go on to be decent coaches. There are just to many showboaters, out for the cash, to see anyone outside of the QB position going ton and being a succesful coach. They would opt for the big $ as color commentary guys.

However I have heard Ray say he wants to be an actor after he's done playing football so at the very least he'll probably decide between TV/Hollywood and coaching.

Fact: Great QBs just don't become great coaches, for whatever reason.
PEOPLE SKILLS are the most important aspect of being "the guy at the top".

Drew Brees also might be another guy that could go on to coach. Hard worker that actually does posses some pretty good people skills. Also he helped Sean Payton design the offense in New Orleans so at the very least he can say that he studied under one of the best offensive minds in the game. Also tried to look at journeyman QB's/Backup QB's but I can't really see anyone that stands out as a potential future coach. The last generation actually has quite a few with Garret, Harbraugh, Payton, and Kubiack. Only one I can see now though might be Brunell and I feel like thats a reach on my part.

I don't know much about the guy, but they usually say linemen are pretty smart and I'd think that running Peyton's line would mean you know what the hell you're doing.

Re: Which Current Players do You Believe Will Go On To Coach
I would imagine that many of the future coaches will be coming from the not-to-well known ranks. Look at the current list, yes, some were starters but not pro-bowlers. On the other hand a lot were backups or short term NFL'ers.
As to Manning or R. Lewis, I think it pretty clear that, whatever it is that makes an athlete a great player, simply doesn't translate well to coaching. Who was the last superstar, in any league, to be a good (not necessarily great) head coach?

Re: Which Current Players do You Believe Will Go On To Coach
Truly great players make bad coaches because a great athlete has natural abilities to go along with their drive, determination and dedication. Guys like Sean Payton and Herm Edwards had to work harder as players just to make an NFL team. That's why they are good coaches because if they can get players with more physical tools to their level of work then they can make good players great. Joe Montana couldn't show another qb to be like him but Gus Frerotte could.
On the Skins now, I think Fletcher, Daniels, Lorenzo Alexander, and V. Holiday would all be good coaches.
