Re: Redskins coaches support owners in lockout
Was in the lockout thread, but good idea to put this in its own thread.
I don't really have an opinion on it. I side with the players so I suppose it would be nice if the coaches did to. But they have to do what they feel is best.

Re: Redskins coaches support owners in lockout
I wouldn't publicly speak out against my boss either, not the best career move. I wouldn't put it past Snyder to hold a grudge if a few of the coaches were openly supporting the players cause. Either way, I want football. I'm tired of the back and forth, the delays, the continuances and etc. They need to get back to what matters most, the fans. Without us, football is a dead sport.
What do you think would happen if the fans held our own lockout and didn't come to the games and such? I know they would black them out on T.V., but how long could they last without us?

Lost in all of this bickering is the fact, the game belongs to the fans. Many fans are angry that the most important element of the game has been put on hold. It's only natural for coaches to support their source of income....yet to the contrary the players will support the coaches.

Re: Redskins coaches support owners in lockout
I tend to think MS was key to this, not necessarily getting them to voice there opinion one way or the other, but to making it an all or nothing deal, in order to keep both DS and/or the players from being able to pin it on one or two coaches.
Smootsmack, have the Redskins employees, coaches et al had any layoffs or furlough days? I don't recall seeiing anything about that. |

Not as far as I know. It's interesting that in the brief, Shanahan is mentioned as one of the coaches who may suffer from a prolonged lockout

Not a good idea to speak out against your boss, but it's also not a good idea to speak out against people whom you need to perform for you in order for you to please your boss. I'm just absolutely confounded over why the coaches would get involved in this matter.

Not sure what all this means nor do I really care. Wake me up when the lockout is over.

Re: Redskins coaches support owners in lockout
Well the players are already speaking out against their bosses so this is nothing new. Coaches are already being negatively affected by the lockout since it is cutting into offseason preparation, which will result in poor team performance thus affecting their job security for coaches.
