Redskins Report: Gregg Williams to Stay a Redskin
I just watched the Redskins Report on NBC 4 and Gregg Williams was asked whether he would return to D.C. as the 'Skins defensive coordinator. Gregg Williams replied, "I'm a Redskin.....I love D.C. and as long as Daniel Snyder wants me to be here, I'll stay here." He categorically denied that he was even considering taking a head coaching position if one were offered to him. Michael Wilbon said that he too was told in no uncertain terms by Williams that he was going to be here next season!

I love the guy but that doesn't sound like a definite "I'm staying." Money talks and it sounds like he has put Snyder on the spot. If someone makes a 5 million dollars a year offer you better believe he'll be out of here.

What Wilbon said was that Williams told him in no uncertain terms is that he has decided not to take another job...even if he is offered a head coaching job. Wilbon also mentioned that three teams are reported to be interested in Williams, but that Williams said he would definately be here another season.
As for someone offering him $5 million, that ain't gonna happen. He was making $1 million with the Bills and only Parcells, Gibbs, and now Saban are making about $5 million a year. Williams is a great defensive coordinator and could be a very good head coach, but no one would offer him anything like $5 million a year. |

hopefully Gwilliams realizes what an ideal situation he is in.
he makes more money than some head coaches in the nfl. he has young talent on the defence he is coaching. he is in a wonderful footbal city. he is assistant head coach to a very old head coach that has around 5 years of football left in him while GWilliams is a relatively young guy. he doesnt have the pressure that a head coach has. if things go well for the skins, gibbs will get the team back on track as a class organization. he will step down in a few years and GW will take over with a solid team. which is what should've happened with pettibone. williams got a bad shake in buffalo. he did a good job there. i doubt he will go to a rebuilding team anytime soon. |

You hit the nail on the head jamf. I can't see him considering another job for 2-3 more years, and by then he'll probably be set up to take over from Joe (I can't see him going more than 4 seasons).

I'm not worried either was cause I know no team is going to hire him. Just look at the teams that need a coach. SF is gonna hire and offensive coach like they always do. N.O. is most likely gonna keep Haslet. Any besides there are guys infront of Williams to get a shot at a head coaching position like Romeo Crennel, Jim Fassel, Al Saunders.

NO would be stupid to keep Haslett. He has done nothing there in five or however many years he has been there.
I also agree, that there are other assistants who will probably receive offers before Williams. |

I still see him being the guy to take over from Coach Gibbs after 3 years.

I'd be willing to bet Hasslett will be back next year. |

Even though he is a multi-millionaire and has been married several times, he registered for wedding gifts....................what would he possible need...... I don't think he'd pay a good coach a DECENT salary |

If he lets Hasslet go he'll have to buy him out, so when you're talking about a cheap owner that's just another reason he'll probably be back.
