Holy cajoles!
/Didn't see that coming. I guess Grossman's inconsistent play is better than the Beck's "unknowns"?

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Or maybe Beck is simply more suitable as a backup at the moment. Since he has less experience, he is not proficient at executing as many plays as Grossman can currently.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Could be that too. Grossman has had an extra year in the system compared to Beck. Honestly I think at some point this season we'll see what Beck has to offer.

Bottom line, Rex had a better preseason.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
True. But to be honest, I felt like it wasn't even much of a qb competition from the way the media were talking. People felt like it was a given that Beck would take the job barring horribly poor play. He did have a bad game against Tampa but I thought that would've been a pass given it was the last preseason game, playing with backups, etc. I guess I am a little suprised, but honestly Grossman did play just as good as Beck did this preseason.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Beck had a terrible game against TB....against their 3's and 4's. Rex performed well against the 1's of Pittsburgh and Baltimore and had a better stat line.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Both will play this year most likely. I not really that surprised, like it was said previously Rex had the better preseason

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
I felt like Both QB's were equal this preseason, and that Beck should have gotten the start based on the fact that he's an unknown with potential and accuracy where as Grossman is known for what he can do.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
I don't think Beck will see play time this year if Grossman stays healthy, and plays well. Hopefully he's the answer for a few years untill we find our franchise QB
Would be nice to trade Armstrong/Rocky for Flynn and a 5th.

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
No surprise. I thought the handwriting was on the wall when Beck started the last preseason game and played the entire first half. Your starter is not normally exposed that long in the last and meaningless preseason game.
I still believe we're going to need both Grossman and Beck to get through the season.

Wilsowilso and I are now giving each other pats on the back.
In a seriousness, this has the potential to be a Plummer/Cutler type of situation where midseason Beck takes over for good. Difference is Beck isn't a rookie

Re: Rex Grossman Named Starting QB
Actually, if the coaching staff believes that Grossman should be our starting QB, that's who I want to finish the season. I'm no longer interested in what Beck "might do" if given a chance. Barring injury, let him ride the pine and let Rex do his thing and command the team.
I'm content on closing the chapter on Beck until circumstances dictate otherwise. I'm officially on the Rex bandwagon and pulling for him 100% every single game. |
