Eagle worries

Last year, I would say that the iggles were a pass rusher and a WR away from the super bowl. They've now picked up Kearse and TO, arguably the best pass rusher and the best WR to switch teams this year. Much as I hate them, I believe they are now the team to beat in the NFC. Am I wrong here?

They have lost their CBs and Emmons, but will that hurt them? Maybe they'll be especailly vulnerable to the run. I sure hope so, given Portis is in the house. What do y'all think?

I think they are the team to beat. NFC runners up three years in a row, NFC East Champs until someone takes their place. Yes, they have gotten a couple of outstanding players. The thing with Owens is that he'll probably maximize his potential playing for a team that will set clear boundaries on making criticisms of other players and coaches. He didn't have people to tell him no at SF like Jeff Garcia's dad pointed out.

I feel like the Redskins will need another year to get the engine running the way they want. We need more secondary depth, and more depth on the defensive line.

I think our offense will be something to see, especially if we draft Winslow.

This year Redskins football is going to be fun!

I think without Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent they're in much worse trouble than they may realize. I don't care what promise the 2 corners they drafted a few years ago showed last season, they still haven't started 16 games at corner in the NFL. Until then, they haven't proven anything. Let's not forget Taylor and Vincent made the Pro Bowl 2 years ago and they haven't added a CB this offseason. Could mean they're going to have some trouble this year...at least I hope so.

Kearse was the big ticket item for the igges this off season. TO will soon show his true colors & wear his welcome out in Philly.

I love TO talent, but his attitude ruins it for him. I remember TO years back when he was living in Jerry's shadow. He was a humble & very talented young man. Now he's reckless & obnoxious!

I think with TO now we might want to think about defense the first pick.

The Eagles lost alot on defense. Kearse will get hurt again this year. T.O. will be a distraction the first time McNabb becomes inconsistent or T.O. feels he is not getting the ball enough.
They lost more than they gained on defense.

For the last few years, the Redskins have been accused of signing a fantasy football team, and expecting big names with issues to lead their team. I see Philly's offseason as mimicking this behavior. The Eagles have signed a one-dimensional DE with injury problems, and a WR who has been disruptive to team chemistry every year he's been in the league. Congratulations, Philly. You just beat us out for the March Championship. Now let's see if it works as well for you as it has for us.

Two years ago, the Eagles drafted two CBs and a safety with three of their top five picks. Now those guys had better be ready because losing two better than average cornerbacks in one off-season is a big deal for a defense.

The Eagles still do not have a top flight RB - unless Westbrook turns into one pretty quickly. Their tight ends are OK but not much more than that.

If the Eagles can draft a run-stuffing tackle inside to rotate with the the guys they have (who are undersized and wear down late in the season), that will be a big help.

Are they the team to beat in the NFC? Probably not.

Are they about to implode and go 4-12? Without disastrous injuries, very unlikely.

Everyone wants to write off the Eagles but for 3 straight years they have been on the footsteps of the SB.

They'll again be strong this year and should probably reach double digit wins again.

One things for sure, the NFC East is gonna be a slugfest!

I think people want to write off the Eagles for good reason. They have been close the last 3 years and I feel that window got slammed shut last year. They had every advantage in that game. They had a better team and they were playing at home. The Panthers had better wide outs and a better runner, but Donovan made the Eagle offense better than that of Carolina. I said before if it didn't happen last year it wouldn't happen and I'm going to stand by that.

T.O. is 31 and Kearse will continue to have injury problems. A team like Philly continues to let a lot of guys with character and heart leave their team. Hugh Douglas, Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Jeremiah Trotter, they were all leaders. Now, Philly has not seemed to miss a beat, but I don't feel like they're any better defensively this season than they were last year. If anything, they lost more than they gained. They paid an obsene amount of money for Kearse and I think Jevon is a gamble.

I don't think Philly has what it takes to make it to the NFC Championship game again. I think they lost way too much this offseason and tried to compensate with two guys who have a good chance of making the organization look bad. See: Deion Sanders.

Well, remember they also lost Carlos Emmons and Duce Staley, and Westbrook is coming off a major knee injury. They did add Dhani Jones, up and coming star linebacker.

While McNabb is more mobile and athletic Garcia is a better all around passer than McNabb. Did T.O. have a big impact with the 49ers? What were they 7 and 9? T.O. might improve the Eagles passing game but I don't think it will be a dramatic impact. Kearse is too injury prone for them to count on. I think they've lost more than they gained in FA!

I think you have a good point in the comparison between Garcia and McNabb. Despite all the criticism Gacia has received, he's an accurate passer - a trait no one will bestow upon McNabb. If TO was frustrated by Garcia not getting him the ball enough, McNabb bouncing him 10 yard ins should make him crazy.
