Sean Taylor's stock dropping?

I am passing this along from a post on another board:

This is (allegedly, as I haven't seen it) from the latest issue of TSN:

"Safety Sean Taylor's stock is dropping, according to NFL coaches who watched him workout recently on campus at Miami (Fla.). The coaches also have studied film of Taylor and say he misses too many tackles, takes hits instead of delivering them and doesn't play anywhere near as big as he should."

I'd agree...I thought his stock was too high as it was. I don't think this will matter to us though as I anticipate the SKins trading that 5th pick for multiple picks.

I think this is the same kind of over analyzing scouts do sometimes that is pointless. Lass year its was Terral suggs. Oh he runs of slow 40. That didn't hold him back from getting all those sacks. And it didn't hold him back this year. Tayler is awesome, he has all the physical ability as well as all the mental ability. He has passion for the game, and will get better at what ever his weakness are(not many). Lets not forget this guy had 10 interceptions, and i think ran back 3 for touchdown, and lord knows i have seen him lay some hits on people. And i dont' even watch miami that much. I still think the skins should pick him.

I think this is an excellent development for the Redskins. If Taylor's stock is indeed dropping, it could be possible for the Skins to trade down a few spots and pick up both Taylor AND a solid defensive lineman. Or they could trade down and pick up two defensive linemen. Taylor's stock dropping is the best thing that could happen for the Skins. There's plenty of other outstanding talent vying for the top 5 spots (mostly QBs and WRs-- which the Skins don't need), and that will ensure a viable market for the Skins' #5 pick. Unless the Skins are dead-set on picking Winslow, they would be wise to turn Taylor's loss into their gain...

I don't agree with those scouts' asessment. I think this guy deserves every bit of credit that he gets. He had what 9 INTs last season? He has great hands (unlike Bowen who finds himself in position but can't haul in those INTs), great vision, great feet (he played RB in HS), and great size for a safety (even if he doesn't hit as hard as he should).

He hasn't been held in high regard for oustanding hits (though he hits just fine), rather, he gets praise for all the things I listed. So, when someone says he doesn't hit as well as he should, I'm not too concerned. If he hits like a very good safety and not like a LaVar Arrington (which, given his size and speed, would not be an unrealistic expectation) then I'm happy.

I watched the guy and he IS amazing. He has flaws, like any other football player, but his strengths are overwhelming. That said, I think we're going to draft Winslow.

Who knows what we'll do. We've got a month till the draft, and the 'experts' come out with a new prediction every week. Personally, I'd love to have Taylor or Winslow. Taylor will do wonders to all facets of the defense while Winslow will make the offense very scary. As for Taylor's stock dropping, that could be the Lions (or any other team) pumping bogus information just to try and sway the decisions of other teams' FOs. I trust Gibbs and Co. to make the best decision on this one, so I'm not gonna worry about it too much.

I'm with Cpayne. I think that both of these players will be special players. Very special players. Either one I'll be pleased with. Every day picking one becomes harder.

"Hey Lions, we'll give you Gardner for your #6!"

I agree once again. I will be happy in any of the three routes we will/should be taking with Winslow, Taylor or Trade Down. Theres really no wrong way to go here. If we could trade down and still get Taylor, which I doubt we can, cause I think Detriot takes him, that would be awsome.

If there's one thing thats a given in this draft, it is that detroit will take tayler. I think this choice really comes down to do we want to improve our offense or defense. I personally think we already have all the tools to have a very good offense. Just look at the personall great o-line, excellent reciever corp, one of the best running backs in the league, and a potentially very solid quaterback. If we get Widslow, or offense will be even better, but i think our defense will be very poor. I think as it is right now our defense will not be very good next year even with Williams. Ultimately he's gonna need talent to put together a good D. But if we get one more play maker on defense then I think our defense has potential to be solid, not great but solid. That would make our team much better in my opinion. Rather than a great offense with no defense.(just as the chiefs or vickings about that)!

What a great dilemma to have, Winslow or Taylor

Let me see if I can take a different approach to this, which combo would you rather have?

Sean Taylor and Royal/Flemister/Chamberlain (I'm not lumping Rasby with those others because he's primarily going to be a blocker)

or

Winslow and Bowen?

Wiinslow seems like the perfect fit for Gibbs' system but I'm still leaning toward Taylor. He seems like the perfect fit for any system. Now if we get Bobby T, it's a whole differenet story

I just watched a little bio and some highlight's on taylor on NFL total access, and all I can say is this kid is a player! I don't care what his 40 time is coming in at, I think he is a better saftey than winslow is a TE, and that's saying a lot.

Smack I like the way you think!!!

Taylor might or might not be as good as many of you think! There have been some bad things that have showen up for him in a time that is very big in his life! Showing up out of shape[ Bad work outs] and now scouts bad asesments of how he played in Miami. Another way to look at it is lets say Taylor is the best FS and Widslow is as good a TE! The who can help us the most! I have to say there are some other FS in this draft that may not bethat far behind Taylor. I like Dexter Reid or Brandon Everage! Is there that much of a up side to Taylor to these guys? Another question can Winslow be a great TE like his father or like Tony Gonzalez? If so I can you see him put out side and Coles going in motion in side.....talk about a defensive nightmare! The one thing I so remember about Giggs offense is the movement be for the ball in snaped! It's good to day as it was 10 years ago! Make the defense change on the fly...not lookat what you bring to the line! I still in a D lineman be it a DE or DT is in much need. But the bottom line is we might not be in this spot for a long time so trade down take who ever but you better be right!!!! That is something the Skins have not done very offen in drafts!!!

Anyone know where I can D/L film or get streaming vid of Taylor and/or Winslow? We don't get college ball over here much, so I rely on write ups and word of mouth. It would be nice to make an informed decision based on seeing the guys play.

Pete.....after talking with the other warpathers, we've decided it's time to intervene. Wait PETE!!!! Don't run, yes this is an intervention. I'm sorry but we are concerned that you are drinking way too much.

Just kidding...you just left the door open. You get a free pass to wail on my nads in some other post.

I agree.

This is the time of year when the draft gurus start picking apart every single flaw a player has. Taylor is a baller and he's a legit top 5 pick.

Great comparison to Suggs of last year. People talked themselves out of believing what they saw on the field from him and he slipped down right into the Ravens lap. Suggs should have been a top 5 pick, and his play on the field last year justified that thinking.
