offseason rantings & questions

If you could give any redskins player some advice right now in the offseason on something to work on so that he could be better for next season who and what would it be? discuss.

I'd tell Ramsey to study next years opponents now to know some of the things they run. I'd also like to see some pocket pressence work, footwork and establish better timing with the Wideouts he needs to develop timing with someone.

might as well start early, right

Where do I begin. I'd like to see some more pressure from the line. O-line needs to get better hope Jansen recovers to what he was before never know with achilles. More exotic routes maybe. I don't know just something on offense.

I'd tell McCants to work on his spelling and grammar in his NFL Players journal

I'd tell Sean Taylor to work on controlling his "knock their heads off" mentality

I'd tell Brunell to restructure his contract and then retire.

On a more serious note, I'd tell Samuels and Dockery to do a better job of run blocking, Betts & Royal to do a better job at blitz pick-ups, and Ramsey not to throw INTs while in the opponent's red zone.

how about the coach? i would tell gibbs to stop blaming the talent of the wr's for the teams offensive problems and blame himself for the obsolete playbook.

Am I the only one that hears Gibbs say the problems start with him?

Gibbs has never backed down from blame.

I think Musgrave will be an unsung coaching hero of next year. I think he will be behind-the-scenes and make a huge impact with Ramsey's progression.

I'd tell Smoot to get a dose of reality and ask for pay commensurate with his ability and position.

I'd tell McCants to step it up in practice if he wants some real playing time, else he becomes trade bait for a low round draft pick.

I'd tell Brunell to restructure his contract and plan on being a 'father figure' to Ramsey.

I'd tell Garner 'Hasta la Vista, baby'. One way or another I don't think he'll be wearing a skins uniform next season.

I just hope we can hear some concrete news in the upcoming weeks about some signings/releasing of people.

Seriously, I'm begining to grow very impatient.

I don't think anyone ever heard Gibbs blame any players. BUT, I would tell Gibbs to open up the playbook a little more, and throw downfield. Also, I would tell him to utilize the zone blocking scheme a little more, because thats a better scheme for Portis.

Gibbs was blaming himself all year last year. I don't think that's an issue.

I tell Blache he must stay because he helped our D line, and defense, by leaps and bounds. I feel he is the most under-appreciated coach we have!

No one could be harder on Gibbs than himself, but I agree he needs to make some changes in playcalling and some schemes to help this out. Great leader of men, once his playcalling comes around, we're golden.

Can you cite which times he has done this? You can't remember any time Gibbs hasn't blamed himself? His playbook isn't obsolete, he just needs to expand on the offense a little more this year...open things up just a bit more...last time I checked, teams still run and pass in order to score.

With all the early season turnovers I think Gibbs pulled back and got too conservative for fear of turning it over. Throw in a very green QB in Ramsey in to the mix halfway through the year and that didn't help matters any.

There were many factors that all contributed to the offensive struggles, the line, QB play, overall inexperience by the entire unit in this offense, playcalling, execution, etc.

That game against the Giants definitely didn't help either. How many turnovers was that? 7?
