ESPN rumours
I state this is only a rumour and a Cowboys one at that but. ESPN is reporting the Cowboys have struck a deal to trade Dat and a 1st round pick for Chales Woodson . Would make sence from a Raiders point of view it frees them of the Woodesn cap problem and gets them a replacement middle LB and the Cowboys need big time help in thier secondary. Would mark one more team of the Smoot sweapstakes.
That said I REALLY cannot see Smoot going to Dallas given what he has said about them in the past but business is business |

Re: ESPN rumours
That is an interesting rumor, the Cowboys would have Terance Newman and Charles Woodson. That would make for an absolutely killer tandem of corners. But I can't see them trading Dat Nguyen, that doesn't make sense to me. They're trying to switch to the 3-4 defense, so if anything they're trying to add speedy linebackers like Nguyen, not trade them away.

Re: ESPN rumours
The Cowboys are trying to restructure Dexter Coakley's contract as well and may cut him if they can't come to an agreement.

Re: ESPN rumours
Parcells thinks he was keyed up this year to make a real run building on the playoffs in 2003 but the defence really fell to bits in 2004 where I think most people were thinking they were going to stay solid.
Given Parcells tendency not to want to be around teams going trough rough patches anymore I think he wants to win now and no one on the team is safe . They want play makers everywhere and screw the cap they need to win now. |

Re: ESPN rumours
Damn, Norv is really a mover and a shaker this offseason.
I know Norv isnt in charge of any of this, but it will be fun to see how things shake out. Woodson might just be looking for his final payday so hopefully this blows up in the Tuna's face. That and I hate guys who played for Michigan so I wish him the worst. |

Re: ESPN rumours
who gives a crap about where smoot goes if dallas gets woodson. I would hate for the cowoys to get him. Dat was a crappy player last year, everyone talked about how overrated he is. The cowboys are talking about switching to 3-4, yet they have the smallest dline in the NFL. So they are goign to need to get rid of some guy snad switch things up if they are going to make this change.

Re: ESPN rumours
Terrence Newman is wack! I hadn't seen wide open until I saw a double move on Terrence Newman.

Re: ESPN rumours
Yes this is a really interesting trade, although I'm not really sure why the Raiders would want Dat Nguyen. He is a bad fit for a 3-4 as mentioned above. I guess they just really want the pick.

Re: ESPN rumours
Funny because I live in Texas where the Cowboys are worshipped as gods, so they report up to the minute Cowboy news.........neither our paper, websites, nor radio has reported the Dat trade even as a rumor......The only thing I read is that CB is an area that the Cowboys strongly plan to address in free agency......it seems strange.
Sounds like ESPN's Stephen A. Smith has now been asked to report on the nfl after reporting several pieces of NBA misinformation...... Unless of course, Michael Irvin has his inside sources......ya never know.
