Pace to the Giants?
Rams-Giants talk trade
Talks are still in the early stages but this made me think, let's say the Rams deal Pace to NY, could we turn around and deal Samuels to the Rams? At this point nothing would surprise me and if we can't get Samuels to restructure I really think we may have to look to move him. His cap hit this year is outrageous and is really going to handcuff what we do this offseason unless we find a solution. Just a thought. |

Re: Pace to the Giants?
Well if the Giants send St. Louis Luke Petitgout the need for Samuels wouldn't be as big.
I've heard some rumors of the Cardinals sending LJ Shelton to Buffalo for Travis Henry. If that happens Arizona is going to need an LT (unless they have someone else lined up already). That might be something to consider

Re: Pace to the Giants?
Based on what Gibbs has said over the last few days about Samuels, I think if they couldn't restructure they'd just keep him on the team, even with the outrageous cap hit of 9 million this year. Even without restructuring, if they keep both him and Coles in their current contracts, the Skins are like 8 million under the cap.
From the way Gibbs has sounded, he really likes Samuels and thinks he is of huge importance to the team. I can't see Gibbs letting him go, even though I think it would make sense to do so. |

True, with Gibbs' emphasis on the running game and protection, dealing away one of your top OL probably isn't in the cards.
But who knows anymore, who would have thought a couple weeks ago we'd be sitting here today talking about Coles possibly leaving. |

Re: Pace to the Giants?
As much as Samuels has pissed me off in the past I dont know if there is a replacement for him that will help ease my blood pressure. He definately isnt worth Walter Jones money, and if he is holding out for that, I say ship him off.
Hopefully this will get smoothed over today or tomorrow. |

Re: Pace to the Giants?
believe it or not, I say sign samuels to a contract extension now. The guy is young and he is coming off a much better year, and there are signs to show that he can definitely do better. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have an outstanding season.

Re: Pace to the Giants?
I have read recently, and I can't quite recall where, but it may have been on ESPN's Rumor Central page, that talks are very close with the Skins and Samuels and they expect it to be done before March 2. I think this is a huge break for the Skins, and everyone remember when you are bad-mouthing Samuels that this will now mark the 3rd time he's restructured to help us. He doesn't have to do that. It's not his fault he's got a big unmanageable contract, and he's really taking one for the team again. I hope it pays off for him, and we don't screw him over somehow.
As for the Giants-Rams trade, I'm pretty sure that's very idle speculation. What do the Giants have that the Rams want? The only good players I see on the Giants are Strahan, Barber, Shockey, perhaps Eli, and perhaps those CBs, although I don't really like them as players. Aside from Strahan, the Rams have no need for those players, and Strahan is old and has a gap-tooth (lol I had to rip on him a little, but he's damn good). Therefore, it would have to be draft picks, I think, and the G-Men don't even have a 1st rounder this year. I don't see it happening, in other words. |

Re: Pace to the Giants?
I know we give Samuels a lot of shit but he only gave up 1 sack last year.

Re: Pace to the Giants?
my main problem about the samuels thing is that dispite him being a very good player, no one single player playing today is worth taking up almost 1/8th of your salary cap, especially an o-lineman.

Re: Pace to the Giants?
Very true. I wouldn't say he's an elite tackle, however he is a very good one.
