Sean Taylor Interview
It’s on ESPN. Link is to the chat transcript. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=5013
When asked which teams have been the most interested in him thus far? He mentions Redskins first. Also he mentions he is close to Clinton Portis and Portis has been lobbying for him to come to D.C. Although this doesn't matter since Sean can't decide where he wants to go. Its up to the skins to choose him at 5th pick in the draft. |

Jesus this guy is just as cocky or cockier than Clinton Portis. He seems pretty confident in himself, and those are the people I want. I hope in 30 days we hear, with the 5th pick in the draft, the Washington Redskins select Sean Taylor, University of Miami

Wow. He's not exactly a humble sort of guy. But if he can back it up, then bring it on!

Its werid too. He was on Mike & MIke this morning, and all I have heard is how humble he is. That certainly dosent back it up, but I love that kinda stuff as long as there are no personal attacks against people.

is the surgery he mentioned having on his shoulder a possible problem that could reoccur? I don't remember anyone ever mentioning that he'd suffered stingers most of last year so this is news to me and I hope I'm not the only one wondering if there r going to be any lingering effects(laying off some tackles or his shoulder acting up again and having to sit out a bit.)

He's a Miami guy, cockiness is a prerequisite for playing there.

I think he sounds confident, not overly cocky. I liked what he had to say. I hope we pick him if he's there because he will change the way we play defense.

Not exactly what you would want to here, but not horrible either, seem's fairly smart, the one thing I took from that interview as I felt all along is, I really don't care what thier saying at the combine about his number's, this kid is going to wreeck havoc in the secondary.

If he's on the board at #5 I think he's a no-brainer, just a notch ahead of Winslow.

Taylor is a beast and will definitly upgrade the secondary, but if we get him and not a d-lineman (cough cough kenchi udeze cough cough) then we have to make some kind of trade for a decent DE or DT. Otherwise, our talent in the secondary will go to waste (ie no pressure and infinite time in the pocket).

i don't care if he's humble or not, i want people that can play. if he talks and can back it up, so be it. personally i like the characters like riggins, clark and arrington, they add a little spice and make it fun. i was all set on pulling for taylor but just the thought of K2 roaming around with Coles, Jacobs and Portis coming out of the backfield is mighty, mighty tempting

We can't fix everything in one year ... we may have to look for that monster DE next offseason if we take Taylor. And that's OK because even without an impact player on the DL, our defense should be at least average (and probably better than average) with Gregg Williams in charge.

I'm just curious, do all of you feel that this is a need on our team. Why not trade down to ten or eleven and get Tommy Harris or Will Smith. Somebody we could really use.

While the defense certainly needs a pass rusher, and taking Taylor or Winslow might not fix our defense this year, I think it's best for the long-term view to get one of those players, and go after the best pass rusher available after the June 1st cuts, or wait till next year. This is not a make or break year, anyway... |
