Looking forward to 2014 FA
We've entered the dead zone in the NFL calendar year.. So just thinking about next year where we finally have tons of cash to spend in FA. Clearly the focus is resigning our own players, then the draft and building from within, but would be great to continue to accumulate 25-27 yr old bargain talent to fill holes. We'll need to fill depth at RT, ILB, secondary.
But without a #1 pick and having a bunch of second tier WRs - perhaps we could focus the splash in FA on a top-tier WR, since a bunch are coming out... WR: - V.Cruz (NY) - ?? possibility if doesn't resign - James Jones (GB) - ?? possibility, given GB is cheap - Devin Hester (Chi) -- too old - Eric Decker (Den) -- likely will resign - H.Nicks (NY) - likely will resign ? - J.Maclin (Eagles) - underachiever, but possibility if cheap - E.Sanders - ? talent, needs to have good year - D.Alexander (SD) - ?? depends on production this year - K.Britt (Titans) - too many injuries, but interesting |

But to answer or comment about Free Agency in 2014, Brandon Browner is a name I have my eye on. Cruz is another, but I would be shocked if NY didn't franchise him. Ditto for Geno Atkins. Jacoby Jones, Hakeem Nicks and Jimmy Graham are all intriguing. The RT position can be fixed if we get Jared Veldheer, Eugene Monroe, or Branden Albert. Alex Mack is a great C. Antonio Smith is a very good underrated 3-4 DE. Ditto LaMarr Houston and Brett Keisel, who may get you a solid year or 2. Henry Melton, BJ Raji, Paul Soliai and Randy Starks are also good DL. Sean Lee, Brian Cushing and Brandon Spikes can all play ILB. Sam Shields, Vontae Davis, Aqib Talib, and as I mentioned Browner are all intriguing. Jarius Byrd, Chris Clemons and Ryan Clark are all intriguing.

Well it's a good thing we don't try to develop talent in house. That way we can focus this summer on the talent other teams have that we might want next year.

Re: Looking forward to 2014 FA
Can't possibly begin to even talk about it. All players in the NFL age a lot in one year, and so much changes from year to year. With our own depth chart, for all we know we'll have a need at QB or RB next year and be all set with tons of depth at RT (extreme example, but still). And with players in the NFL, half of the guys you listed might have horrendous years or get injured.

Too much change happens in one year to possibly look ahead. If I had to guess Aqib Talib is on our map and if Clady cant get a long term deal done, he would be too.

We should sign Dana Stubblefield and Deion Sanders.

I'd like to look at the 2020 draft; if only Mel Kiper would breakdown film from Pop Warner leagues.
