Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
Well, looks like our embattled front office made the right choice there.
Post (FOX) Browns to release former No. 1 overall pick Brown Injury-plagued defensive end Courtney Brown will be released on Monday by the Cleveland Browns if the club is unable to restructure the former No. 1 overall draft pick's contract. Brown, who missed the final 14 games last season after undergoing foot surgery, is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on Tuesday. The Browns may still re-sign Brown, who has missed 33 games with injuries the past four seasons. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...140813162&ATT=5 |

I'd be ok if the Skins gave him a look, as long as they give him a bargain basement deal.

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
I understand that Courtney Brown has been injury prone for most of his NFL career but I would love to see us sign him. When he is healthy he is a monster. If we could get him for a cheap price I would love to see what Williams could do with him. I know I am partial because he is a nittany lion but I really do have faith that he could still do some damage. Come on Dan reunite LaVar and Courtney!!!!!!

Only problem it seems to be a very big IF when it comes to him staying healthy.

If we can get him for under a mil, we should sign him.
Nobody said the FO couldn't draft. LaVar was the obvious choice, I don't know what Cleveland was thinking. But Sean Taylor, LaVar, Samuels, they all panned out. |

Too injury prone. What, did Brown run over a gypsy child or something? He's really been cursed with the injury bug.

Oh, and the much-bashed Vinny gets the credit for picking Lavar, according to Wilbon's latest article. A good choice, but it's so FUN to bash Cerrato...

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
Westbrook, Gardner, Shuler...it's not like they've been perfect. A lot of people were saying that we needed a D-line guy (still are) and were really upset when we got Arrington. It has worked out nicely though.
I wouldn't mind seeing if Brown could revive his career here but if he did, he'd be the next FA we bitched about leaving for a big contract. |

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
I was always lobbying for Sean Taylor, I almost punched a hole in the wall when the draft was on and they said we were on the phone with Kellen and it looked like we were going to take him. I was also all for LaVar over CB I watched both of them at PSU and it was obvious that LA was going to be something special, not hating on CB

I'd sign him to an incentive based contract after he's passed a physical.

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
definitely brown would be worth a mimimum contract with a lot of performance incentives. face it, he is damaged goods and nobody is going to give him a big contract. the best he can hope for is a gardener type deal where he gets a chance to sjow he is finally healthy. having him for 1 year on a trial basis is a no-brainer.
while i am at it, do not forget that the last member of the "big 4" fromthat draft year was peter warrick-- another disappointment. considering that we got the duo of lavar and samuels, that has to be the best combo possible out of that group of 4. kudos to the front office... |

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
Aren't all these "too injury prone" statements the same thing everyone said about Springs?
If we can get him CHEAP try him. |

Re: Flashback: Arrington vs. Brown: who do we draft?
Springs has had only one year where he missed a substantial amount of time, in 2001 he missed 8 games. For his career he's made 108 starts out of a total of 128 games.
Brown on the other hand has started just 47 out of 80. |
