Gibbs Radio Recaps?

Is there someone in the DC area who will be listening to any/all of the Gibbs Q&A sessions who can give us a synopsis of what he says?

Nothing significant. I listened to Tony's interview. Alot of kiss ass.

1. He came back because of his son.
2. Didnt want to lose Smoot or Pierce. But he got close, and left it in the player's hands.
3. It would have been too uncomfortable to have Coles back. He said that Coles and himself had serious issues. The whole Danny thing that leaked out about the trade, (flat screen tv comment) was just Danny defending Gibb's position. I got the distinct impression that Joe does not like Lav.
4. He plans to stay for atleast 5 years.
5. He doesnt think the team needs a General Manager. Tony pointed out that the Pat's had a GM. Gibb's response(paraphrasing): "Do you think that Bilicheck doesnt make those decisions, he is the Patriots."
6. De Brown will not be visiting Redskins Park today, but he will visit Redskins Park. And we are in the "sweepstakes"
7. He told Theismann not to continue his NFL career after the leg break.
8. He despises steriods.

There you go.

I thought it weird the total reversal in opinion that has taken place over the past week. Remember last week, how pissed off Tony was at the Redskin's organization about the whole season ticket thing? Something happened behind the scenes that got Tony to be nice, and Gibb's on the program. I wish Tony would fess up.

Re: Gibbs Radio Recaps?

MIght it be that Tony Kornheiser is smart enough to realize that Joe Gibbs had nothing to do with the "season ticket fiasco" from a couple of weeks ago and therefore figured it would be really low class to beat Joe Gibbs up with that?

It's pretty easy to like and respect Joe Gibbs for who he is and what he's done while still thinking that the Washington Redskins as an organization is often petty and smarmy and mean and vindictive and...

The coach and the team and the people who run the organization from an administrative sense are not one and the same.

Re: Gibbs Radio Recaps?

While I agree with you somewhat. I'm sure that it wasnt coaches Gibb's idea to go on the radio show. That decision must have been made upstairs. The same upstairs that got pelted for the tickets.

Don and Mike-Don made a good point. That the Redskins organization was trying to tread water under the pressure that we are putting on them over a "mediocre" offseason. I would temper this quote with, what the hell does he know. But for what it's worth.

Re: Gibbs Radio Recaps?

I don't know about that. Gibbs understands the importance of the media and he knows how to play that game. Funny how when he goes on Tony's show, eveything is made better. Reporters are people too and need their egos stroked. Gibbs knows how to handle the people side of things, generally.

And GIbbs has called a number of press conferences when he wasn't happy about things. I think he cares a lot about public relations, unlike Danny-boy--and see where it's got him!

Re: Gibbs Radio Recaps?

You are right, Gibb's is a media sevant. I think that the 150 Nascar reporters that reported that Gibb's was commenting (joking) that he wouldnt be with the Redskins if he kept losing more than winning. He's so savvy with this half retarded giggle.

And typically the only ass Tony kisses is reporters that he has worked with. Im just not used to him kissing a coaches ass. It caught me off guard after a week of what he termed "war" with the Redskins organization(which I think Gibb's is a part of).
