Shawne Merriman
What do you guys think of him?
He sounds like a tweener at 275 lbs, is he projected to play LB or DE in the NFL? Is he on the Skins radar with the #9 pick?? |

Re: Shawne Merriman
Unfortunately, he's not. ESPN has been screaming Rolle, Jones, or one of the receivers. The Skins radar seems very dark right now. I love Merriman. I want him... to play... you know... for us... the Redskins. Maybe they'll surprise us.

Re: Shawne Merriman
in that interview with merriman on redskins.com, he said he'll play either LB or DE, whatever the team wants him to do. I think he could be on our radar, and i would not be upset to draft him by any means. Id like him at #9 over any other DE by far, or a CB, either CB is good to me at 9, if we stay.

6'4" 275lbs that's no tweener for a DE, he has a long body type to hold those extra lbs. |

Re: Shawne Merriman
I remember reading that he's put on a LOT of muscle, sooo, I wouldn't be against it. I definitely feel we should draft WR or CB with our first pick.

Re: Shawne Merriman
Could the Redskins be considering copying New Englands Patriots very sucessful experiment of drafting a DE and moving him (then rookie DE Tedy Bruschi) to MLB. Tedy Bruschi is now a probowl player and one of the best and smartests MLB in the NFL. Maybe, but I doubt it. If they drafted Merriman it probably would be to play pass rush DE.

Not with Merriman, if anything he's more of a McGinest type, plus at this point Merriman is much bigger than Bruschi. If were looking at someone in that copasity he's probably flying under everyones radar, to small to play DE, and considered to big for MLB. The thing with Williams is he likes a lot of speed at that position bulk is not as important to him, that is one of the reasons he cut Trotter he wanted a MLB that could cover, I think we will be drafting someone who fits that criteria but not a big college name. |

Re: Shawne Merriman
The Nfl Network said that the teams that are looking at him are thinking DE, and he has expressed his willingness to gain weight.
