#86 Jordan Reed
Reed is often injured and can't stay healthy for very long. But when he's on the field his abilities rival the great HOFer Kellen Winslow Sr., who is considered the best TE to ever play the game. At this point do the Redskins really need Reed, considering we have the capable Vernon Davis?.... what would the Redskins receive in a good trade for Reed ?

Re: #86 Jordan Reed
Reed needs to just retire. Between his concussions and his injuries, he’ll be a babbling, broken mess if he continues to play into his 30s.

Davis is good for another year or 2 but we need to replace reed this OS. He isn't reliable enough to even worry about anymore.

Bro nothing personal here but thinking we can bail on Reed because 33yo Vernon Davis is having a great season as a backup is crazy. I hope Davis can have another good couple years here as the backup but the only thing Reed being injured constantly means is we absolutely have to have a solid backup insurance policy for when the inevitable happens. I'm hoping Jeremy Sprinkle turns into that guy, but he's got a ways to go. Reed is also good, don't get me wrong. But I don't ever want to see him compared to HOFer's because he's not gonna get in. He is too injury prone to put together the type of career length necessary to put up the stats needed to get in. In fact, with how injured he is now, I'd be surprised if he lasts another 5-8 years. Eventually one of these days the concussions, or the leg/hips/core injuries he keeps suffering will take its' toll and he will retire. Also the fact that he's injury prone means we're not gonna get much in a trade, and if we did it would be conditional on him having a healthy year. Not worth it.

Re: #86 Jordan Reed
Hes 27. Played 12 games last year, 14 games year before that.
We needed him to step up this year and his body wont allow it. Hes signed through 2021. Going to be a 10.3M cap hit next year. 5.4M in dead cap if we cut him after this year. Tough decision. If he is healthy, its a no brainer he is worth 10M per. But he isnt and his blocking handicaps playcalling to a degree.

Re: #86 Jordan Reed
Hopefully Sprinkle continues to develop. Goes without saying Reed simply can’t be counted on.

Re: #86 Jordan Reed
Remember that dude we drafted a few years ago. Was an absolute nightmare for opposing teams and looked like a damn future HOF’er ? He went in for an x-ray and they found out he was made mostly out of glass. Cheap ass glass too not pyrex. |

Re: #86 Jordan Reed
Being as he has a high dead cap number and we need to make a lot of picks on defense, I'd keep him next year. But if 2018 is anything like 2017, a TE would be a high priority in the 2019 draft and I'd let Reed go.
Hopefully by 2019 Sprinkle is ready to start.
