Antonio Gibson
Some notes :
6'2 220 4.39 forty time 38 Rec 735 yards 8 Tds last yr. 65% REC PERCENTAGE : Antonio Gibson is a fascinating NFL Draft projection with a wide range of outcomes in the NFL. A RB/WR hybrid player in a crowded Memphis backfield, Gibson took the majority of his snaps at WR across his two seasons at Memphis after rising up through the JUCO ranks. Gibson projects to RB at the NFL level given his smooth change of direction, quality contact balance, and explosive cuts in the open field, but his narrow frame of reference for blocking schemes at this stage make that position a multi-year projection. Gibson will first contribute as a returner and third-down back, and his WR background will benefit teams willing to feature him a pass-catching back on routes split out wide and from the backfield. A walking explosive play, Gibson has homerun hitting ability and an extremely high ceiling if his promising vision and feel continue to grow, and should be viewed as a potential starter by Year 3. He deserves back-end of Day 2 consideration.

Re: Antonio Gibson
We needed someone to soothe us immediate doubters (me). Now that we didn't skip Young and get Tua I can love you again lol.

Re: Antonio Gibson
Overview
"Big athlete with position versatility" will be a tag from some, but it's vague and lacks projection. While Gibson is a one-year wonder, his 14 career touchdowns on just 77 touches demand attention. He played more slot than running back in college, but he was a runner in high school and has an intriguing combination of size, burst, vision and power. He is a four-phase player on Day 1 with the ability to return kicks, cover them and create matchup problems for linebackers out of the backfield. The sample size is extremely limited and he needs a developmental runway, but Gibson has exciting upside as a pro. Strengths Makes explosive plays in running, receiving and return game Offers additional matchup possibilities for coordinators Runs much faster than it looks High school sprinter with breakaway potential Had seven total touchdowns of 40-plus yards Quick gather and cut on stretch plays Big runner who absorbs and dismisses angle tackles Decisive runner and gets to a quality burst Sees space well with ball in his hands Sells route stems to tilt coverage off-balance Weaknesses Only one season of production Has 34 career rush attempts Hip tightness limits fluidity in the open field Needs more discipline to keep runs on track when it's there Still learning patience and to set up blocks Only saw offset stretch runs and jet sweeps as a back Rolls and drifts in his route breaks Takes too long getting in and out of breaks

Re: Antonio Gibson
I know my approval is very important to you (definite sarcasm).
2 picks, 2 playmakers. That'll play.

Re: Antonio Gibson
I was thinking GB would snag him but we got lucky. He's a playmaker and will return punts and kicks most likely

Re: Antonio Gibson
I think this is a solid pick. We do need playmakers. I was kinda hoping that Bryce Love would return to form after sitting out a year with his knee. But this guy sounds like he could also be that guy.
We have lots of holes to fill. This guy is good enough to help us. |

Re: Antonio Gibson
You can do some things formationally with him. Like line him up in the backfield then motion him out to create an advantage in coverage against a LB or SS. Gives Turner some options.

Re: Antonio Gibson
All over the field, as a 3rd down back, WR, any combination Scott Turner decides. Him and McLaurin have killer speed, Gibson had 7 40+ touchdowns.

Re: Antonio Gibson
Redskins beat report on twitter said sources have said he will line up in the backfield with Peterson or Guice in 21 personnel. I’m sure he will flex out a bunch too.
