Why Can't There Be More?
I completely understand that the NFL is a business, and I generally support the player's desire to go after the best possible deal for themselves at all time.
However, wouldn't it be nice if there were more players like this?

Bravo!.......I hope the Chargers make him the richest tight end in the league for it.

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
His desire to win is greater than his desire for money, and I believe that is what Gibbs is trying to build with us player's who are more concerned with winning than the extra buck.

Dude! That's the coolest thing I've heard in a while. Not too many guys have that kind of attitude. Very unselfish and team-oriented if you ask me.

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
I respect him but he definitely deserves a new deal. Hopefully the good will he's shown the team will pay off.

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
I don't disagree, but what if he loses this season to an injury because he was practicing when he wasn't under contract. He would probably get the 380k. He's worth more than that injured.

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
I'm not sure but I think that technically his contract from last season applies until July 29th. That's why after the 29th he can't practice even if he wanted to because, as you say jdlea, what if he gets injured

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
Okay, I didn't know when contracts expired in the NFL. That clears up a lot, I was just wondering because if he wasn't under contract when he got hurt then would he have any recourse to get money from the team? Or would he have to rely on the team to pick him up.

Re: Why Can't There Be More?
"The Fantasy Sleeper of 2004" IMO. I admit I'm bias because I took him as a mid rounder in all leagues, but I got way more out of him then I could have ever imagined. He will not sneak by anyone this year.
