Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
Honestly, this is the biggest injustice that exists with the HOF -- it's just not defensible for him to be walking around without the gold jacket. I swear, we should start a petition and reach out to representatives for the guys already in the HOF that he went up against that have all said he should be in. This is serious bullshit.

Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
Crazy to me that Jim Covert is in over him. There's no way I'll accept an argument that he was better than Jacoby. Just no way.
Jacoby has 3 rings and was a key part of leading the way for two of the top rushing performances of all time in a SB, Timmy Smith and John Riggins. Just makes no sense. |

Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
Nothing against those that have gotten in already, but there are guys in the HoF that never won a conference championship, let alone:
3× Super Bowl champion (XVII, XXII, XXVI) 3× First-team All-Pro (1983, 1984, 1987) 4× Pro Bowl (1983–1986) PFWA All-Rookie Team (1981) NFL 1980s All-Decade Team It's comical. I mean Ken Anderson was great and has some impressive numbers (especially given teh lack of pass focus back then) but nothing like the above record. Is Joe just too ugly to get in or something? |

Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
And we thought the way they slighted Monk and made him wait was egregious, this is just beyond ridiculous with Jacoby.

And yet, every stray Cowboy and Steeler gets in....

Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
TBF, depending how you count it (i.e. which team you count the player having played for predominantly, or you count all teams they did), It's even between us, Giants, Cowboys and Steelers; ~32 players each.
I wonder if that's how they're influenced, trying to balance nominations per team? Shouldn't be that way, as its the player not the team, but... |

But all that aside, there's simply no justification that Jacoby hasn't gotten in by now (and indeed, should have been long ago). It's a travesty, as I think we'd all agree.

NFL is a joke, top to bottom and it gets more evident weekly/yearly.

Re: Jacoby shut out of the Hall, again
I have always said there needs to be a committee out there formed of ex coaches and players. People that either played or coached against a lot of these guys. Media people voting on this stuff is comical.
It's basically become the Hall of Very Good, or a popularity contest. Watch, Eli at some point will get in. |
