Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
Washington has also had conversations about potentially moving on from [Kliff] Kingsbury even if he doesn’t get a head-coaching job. Some in the building say there’s been a disconnect between Kingsbury and general manager Adam Peters. When was the last time we were watching to see if an offensive coordinator was going to get fired while he was also preparing for head coaching interviews? We’ll see how this shakes out. The Commanders likely won’t make any final decisions until they see how the broader coaching market develops."
Dianna Rossini Wow…I’d say this would be a little shocking vs the most obvious coordinator needing to go…Whitt.

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
I saw the news, I was kinda surprised by it as well. Especially the disconnect between him and AP, which is a little bit weird since Kliff is just an offense coordinator. I think it would have made more sense if we are considering letting Kliff go when there is a disconnect between Kliff and DQ. But a disconnect between an OC and GM? That's somewhat odd.

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
Scenario - AP telling DQ 'we should have done more with what we had, schemed better to protect JD5 and run the ball more', particularly with those games the O sucked (i.e. Vikings). He might have talked to both of them about it (not least as DQ is a D coach) and gotten the brush off from KK, who's probably thinking he'll get a HC job one way or the other. AP is the GM and has ownership backing, so likely has the power to push DQ to sack KK, or put onus on DQ to get production out of the O with KK else be fired too.
For me KK has been brilliant at times but at others come up with baffling calls and schemeing that would only work in college. Can we do better though, this offseason? |

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
Sadly it should be a total rebuild.scheme wise both sides of the ball.
Sucks for JD5 and company across the board both sides but it aint working, neither scheme.

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
I think she just does that stuff. I doubt anyone in the building pays attention to it.

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
I dislike his offense. It's proven not to be sustainable in the NFL. I don't like all the designed QB runs, the hurry up 100% of the time, the lack of movement and shifting, shotgun 99% of the time. How can you have a strong play action game w/out any under center runs? He needs to make things easier on the QB.
Kliff needs to go coach college ball. He'd be great there. |

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
I've never been a KK fan, but I was willing to give him a shot. I think his system is ultimately going to get JD killed. Dude needs to stop running that RPO shit. It works great in college, but not so much in the NFL. Might be great for stat padding with a fast QB, but not going to win you the big prize though. That's still on a good defense.

Meanwhile, Whitt is still employed.

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Gone?
I think it's a given that Joe Whitt will be gone, or employed in a lesser role. Probably best for him if he moves on elsewhere, as I anticipate a new defensive coordinator might not want him on staff.
0% chance he comes back as defensive playcaller considering he was demoted in season, and 0% chance DQ sticks to defensive playcaller next year.
