Surprem Court Shoots Down Trump Tariffs
Supreme Court strikes down most of Trump's tariffs in a major blow to the president
The decision does not affect all of Trump's tariffs but invalidates those implemented using an emergency law.[/B] https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup...ent-rcna244827 WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court delivered a major blow to President Donald Trump, ruling Friday that he exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs using a law reserved for a national emergency. The justices, divided 6-3, held that Trump's aggressive approach to tariffs on products entering the United States from across the world was not permitted under a 1977 law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The ruling invalidates many, but not all, of Trump’s tariffs.

I won by millions of votes. We won in a landslide. With all the cheating that went on, and there was a lot of it, we still one in the landslide. Too big to rig. But these people are obnoxious, ignorant, and loud, they’re very loud. And I think certain justices are afraid of that. They don’t want to do the right thing.” https://news.yahoo.com/news/articles...185752838.html Trump Vows to Use ‘Even Stronger’ Methods to Keep His Tariffs: ‘I Can Destroy’ a Country Trump vowed to use “even stronger” measures to keep his tariffs in place, riffing at one point that he has so many alternatives at his disposal he can even “destroy” countries. Trump began his remarks by ripping into the court and Democrats, while declaring, “Today I will sign an order to impose a 10% global tariff under Section 122, over and above our normal tariffs already being charged.” He later wildly accused the justices on the court of being under foreign influence and added, “They don’t want to do the right thing. They’re afraid of it. This was an important case to me.

Congress needs to step in..................
https://news.yahoo.com/news/articles...192918069.html The Hill Trump announces new tariffs, investigations after Supreme Court ruling President Trump said Friday he would raise preexisting tariffs and begin the process of imposing new ones after the Supreme Court struck down many of his import taxes on foreign trading partners. During a White House press conference, Trump announced he would impose a universal tariff of 10 percent and begin investigations that could lead to import taxes on a wide range of countries and goods. The president also affirmed that other tariffs he imposed on metals and other imports, which were not involved in the Supreme Court case, would remain in effect.

Re: Surprem Court Shoots Down Trump Tariffs
Trump is legally able to do those stuff although it will be for short term only, besides majority of the Republicans are afraid to stand up to him so there's no doubt this will go into effects.
Seriously, Trump is a crybaby and his tantrums are getting old fast. |

Re: Surprem Court Shoots Down Trump Tariffs
If anything, SCOTUS helps Trump out with this decision. That said, if he wants them so bad, all he has to do is to create a bill and send it to Congress. He can then threaten to primary any GOP member that doesn't sign on. That's been his go to anyways.

The nonpartisan fiscal watchdog, which released its findings on Tuesday, found that the court’s decision striking down tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) has altered the country’s fiscal trajectory in the direction of larger debts and deficits. Without that revenue, CRFB projects the national debt will climb to 125% of GDP—or roughly $58 trillion—by fiscal year 2036, compared to a baseline projection of $56 trillion, or 120% of GDP, that assumed the IEEPA tariffs would remain in force. “Deficits in that scenario will rise to 7.1% of GDP, or $3.3 trillion,” CRFB warned, versus $3.1 trillion under the original baseline.

Re: Surprem Court Shoots Down Trump Tariffs
Republicans have long stopped caring about careful budgets and overspending. Even Nikki Haley was quick to point out that Trump was a bigger spender than Biden was by a long shot.
