Do the Safety Dance

Gortiz put this in the news wire section, but I thought it might be worth discussing here in the locker room.

The Redskins have signed former Texans safety Eric Brown. Any thoughts?

Re: Do the Safety Dance

Wonder if Omarie isn't working out--from some of the stuff I read, he didn't show well on Saturday.

Anyone know why Eric Brown was released?

Maybe someone who can play alongside Taylor in some packages?

Shouldn't we be signing more CB's?

Yeah, I'm not comfortable having Ade Jimoh and Rufus Brown going up against 1st teamers. Even if it is just Preseason.

Re: Do the Safety Dance

i dont think its omar thats not working out, i think its tony dixon, he's had a hammy prob since we signed him if i recall correctly

i would love having two hard hitting safties starting, i think brown can play a bit of coverage over bowen and he definately hits harder and has plenty of awarness in the blitzing dept

I think you may be right--fine, one was a gint and the other was a cowgirl. Obviously, someone isn't pleasing Williams. Any word on why he was released by Texass?

The little I read, it sounds like he is tough, but why did he get cut? that kind of worries me? We all know that Ru Bro and Ade are goign to get cut, not sure about the status of Tony Dixon ... so I guess this is a good signing.

Re: Do the Safety Dance

I think we released an o-lineman so we had an open spot. The front office asked the coaches if they were interested in this guy. Williams said yeah..

Yeah Dixon is hurt. And apparently Ryan Clark is out at least a week as well with a sprained knee

Re: Do the Safety Dance

i liked ryan clark. he filled in excellently last year. but i think we should be signing cornerbacks instead of safeties, both of our starting safeties aren't hurt, yet our cornerback situation is really thin.

Re: Do the Safety Dance

I think we have like 8 safeties that could start on most any team.
