Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
For me its too early to tell, but I am a little worried. Hopefully if he can recover quicker than everyone thinks, and he'll come in and contribute. I still have faith in him and I still believe he'll play an important role in our offense.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
The problem is - Most of Jacobs injuries have been odd. Turf Toe in the preseason isnt something that we should spend a massive amount of time worrying about. If this was the season chances are he'd be playing and we wouldn't even know he had it. However, they take extra precaution during the pre-season to keep everyone healthy.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
I think its too early to tell, but one thing I dont get about the guy. Last year they say he was the fastest reciever on the roster. I hear people talk about him like he's the next Ricky Sanders, but I have yet to really see anything that would make me believe that. I'm not being a smart-ass, but I really want to know why everyone is so high on this kid.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
All of the CBs coming to Redskins park have nothing but praise for the guy. I believe Coles was shocked at how great he was, Champ said he could be the best WR on the team, Rogers said he'd never had trouble covering anyone in college as much as Taylor Jacobs. If he could get on the field I see big things. If I remember correctly all Gibbs used him for last year were screens... of course... that's about all we ran last year.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
Does anyone know what his past injury history was in college and high school. If he did have alot injuries in the past than I would have to vote yes. I'm sure someone on this site knows how to find these stats.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
Taylor actually caught the 2nd longest pass play of last year against the Vikings. (45 yards) But we did mostly run screens...

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
I may be totally wrong, but didn't Jacobs have some injury that caused him to slip to the second round in the draft?

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
I voted yes, only because he's had a spate of injuries that doesn't allow him to compete for the starting lineup. If he weren't injured so much, and he's as good as everyone (including Gibbs) says he is, we'd be seeing much more of him.
Hopefully, this is his last injury of the year and he'll be a consistent receiver who breaks into the Top 3. |

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
He's had what can only be considered fluke injuries. The abdominal trauma in his rookie season was so far out there, it reminded me of John Candy's admonition of Steve Martin in "Plains, Trains, & Automobiles" ("Hey you could have killed me by punching me in the stomach like that when I wasn't ready . . . that's how Houdini died ya know.") This toe injury is very similar - how many dislocated toes do you hear about each year?
If Jacobs had recurring issues with joints (insert Randy Moss joke) or a muscle group, then you start to be concerned. Right now, he's just snakebit.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
The way he has gotten injured leads me to think he may be soft.
Injury #1: dives for a low thrown ball and lands stomach first on a players foot. Briuses his spleen. Out a month. Injury #2: Makes a cut on a grass field and injures his toe. Out a month. These are not plays where he he took a big hit from a defensive player. Just seems rather strange and weak. |

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
Well, in his defense, I saw him lay out a dude on the Vikings last year during a kickoff return. One of the hardest hits I have ever seen out of a WR.
He does have fluke injuries, but, for his career, he needs to get healthy and string a few healthy years together. Maybe he gets back for the season openner. Actually, I'm not really concerned at all about him not playing in the preseason. He runs good routes and our QB's already know what to expect out of him. Hope he gets back in time for the openner.

Re: Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?
All I know is what I see, and I have watched a lot of Skins games over the past 3 years and I have never seen much of Jacobs in a game or contibuting to a game. As much as I would like to see Antonio Brown become a 3rd WR kind-of-guy, I think we need a "big" guy to complement Patten and Moss..... and McCants is not going to be the guy, and so far Jacobs is not either...... Can Art Monk come back and runs some jump ball routes for us a couple of times a game? Can he still jump?
