Carlos Rogers

I saw about 90% of the game last night, so I might of missed something...but it looked to me like "Rookie" Carlos Rogers had a solid game. There was no mention of him playing well on the game thread, so I wonder if I missed him blow a play or something?
What I did see is Carlos break up some passes and make a few great tackles on running plays. From what I saw he looked great.
I wonder if because he is a very high draft pick there might be really high - almost too high expectations on him. He is going to make rookie mistakes this year, expect them.
Shawn Springs and Pierson Prioleau looked good too.
Lavar is still not the Lavar of old. Hopefully he will feel better soon and play like before.
Cornelius Griffen is the man that holds this D together.

Re: Carlos Rogers

Rogers does look good. He got picked on the other game by a fresh set of legs and 3 streak patterns in a row with no safety help. I think he's gonna be fine. Arrington looked fine, too. Especially for as long as he's been out. I still can't figure out what happened to Matt Bowen, though.

Re: Carlos Rogers

Our D has the potential to again be the "Beasts in the East"! Sean Taylor with Lavar and the Shawn Spring will be a more solid unit with him.

I sure do like Carlos too and hope he has a long strong career as a Redskin.
peace

Re: Carlos Rogers

Rodgers has been solid thus far. And like I said in an earlier post, most starting NFL CBs would've been beat presented with the same challenges. There's no need to worry about his development. Rodgers was a better prospect than Smoot coming out and he'll probably outplay him this year as a rook. It looks like our depth at S will pay off if Bowen's injury is serious. Prioleau and Stoutmire both are playing well. And hopefully Ryan Clark picks up where he left off last year. Seems like LA is more effective as a stand up OLB than in a four point stance. Holdman (outside) and Lemar (middle) were out of position at times and may need more time playing together. Time is running out though. As for the DL, they will show up when the regular season is here. And the OL was straight mauling everybody. Samuels is playing with a mean streak that I haven't seen until now. Betts continues to show that he was to be the next Stephen Davis and the Rock solidified Nemo's spot on the practice squad.

Nemo is not going on the practice squad, he would be picked up within 24 hours by somebody.

Re: Carlos Rogers

Smoot had Darrell Green, Deon Sanders, and Champ Bailey showing him the ropes. I think that's why he played as well as he did. Hopefully, Springs will show Rogers a thing or two to improve his game.

So you think we'll have four RBs on the active rosters? Gibbs should've looked (at Betts) before he leaped (for Portis).

Re: Carlos Rogers

The Portis acquisition was a smart move. The guy rushed for over 1300 yards last year and this was his worst season as a pro.

Betts has looked good in spot duty, but when defenses key to stop one player (like they did against Portis last year), it is a completely different ballgame.

Like with the Moss/Coles trade, there is something to be said for getting rid of someone who doesn't want to be here (Bailey) for someone who does (Portis).

smoot never had deion helping him. smoot was drafted in 2001, deion only played for the skins in 2000.

Oh yeah. I did forget about Bailey forcing the teams hand to trade for a player we perhaps didn't need.

Not exactly. Smoot gave up his jersey number (21) so that Dieon could wear it.

Yep. Look on Redskins.com for the not-likely to be cut list.

I think that Nemo and Rock make it because of special-teams and because we need them more than we need Dyson or McCants.

You are incorrect. Smoot's first year was 2001. Deion only played for the skins in 2000. Look it up if you like.

Re: Carlos Rogers

bailey learned from Deon and Darrell, not smoot. Rogers is an over all better prospect than smoot, (Sorry TAFKAS) but he way better and we will see through out this season. At Auburn he was a shutdown corner and once he learns the ropes the same will happen here

Re: Carlos Rogers

Ryan Leaf was an equal prospect to Peyton Manning too. Prospect doesnt mean anything and it's a risky proposition to let a solid starter go for a rookie.

Now, I'm not saying Rogers is Ryan Leaf, but prospects are exactly that till they prove their worth on the NFL stage.
