Tupa Placed on IR
So I guess this is the most major injury of the offseason for the Skins so far. Who should they keep? Groom or Mohr?

Re: Tupa on IR
I would keep Groom but it sounds like Gibbs is leaning towards Mohr. Mohr looks like a step down from Tupa, but he's a vet and that's probably why he'll get the job.
I sure have like Groom this preseason though. |

Re: Tupa on IR
I think its kind of a toss up. So lets have a cage match to see who wins.

Groom. He's done a good job, and he's younger so he won't throw out his back while stretching!

Re: Tupa on IR
I have serious doubts about both but I'd say Groom because at least there is a chance he could be quality. We know what Mohr is and that is average so maybe take a shot at the younger guy and see what happens. It's not like there is going to be a mad rush for Mohr. He'll probably be avaliable if they need him mid-season.

Why not have them punt while they are inside of the cage first for distance, then for placement!

Re: Tupa on IR
Damn, I loved Tupa. This one hurts. He didn't have the biggest leg anymore, but the dude could really directional punt. He could pin guys against the sidelines like nobody's business.
I'd like to see us give Groom a chance. He has a nice leg. But knowing Gibbs, it will come down to who he can trust as a holder. Gibbs hates stupid flubs like a holder not getting the snap down. |

Re: Tupa on IR
Has anyone paid attention to who's been the holder the past 2 weeks in preseason??

Re: Tupa on IR
I hope Mohr was brought in so Groom could win it. A young punter shouldn't have to think he was the only option. If he wins the role, he's got confidence in his game. If he's the default choice, he'll suspect that Tupa was the guy they wanted, and he'd be jobless except for the injury.

Re: Tupa on IR
Groom has been the most consistant thusfar in the presason, or I should say has been consistant(since Mohr hasent punted for us). I'd say as long as Groom has a decent game vs Baltimore, we keep him.

Re: Tupa on IR
I though Groom should have the job when Tupa was healthy. Pulling Mohr out of retirement really wasn't a viable option.

Re: Tupa on IR
He did pretty good at the Pittsburg game. I can see why we would want Mohr in there, but Groom is doing a fine job.
