Pats want Taylor. At any cost!
I heard a rumor that the Patriots were willing to give up some of those 10 or 11 draft picks to get Sean Taylor. What have you all heard?

According to ESPN Rumor Central, Detroit has a deal if Taylor is still on the board:
Detroit gets: Picks #21, #32, #113 and either #56 or #63. New England gets: Picks #6 and #105. Hard not to pull the trigger on that one when your team has as many holes as Detroit does. Last edited by EEich; 04-07-2004 at 09:03 PM. |

There's a reason they're willing to give all of that up, he's worth that much, at least! I really think it's not that good of a deal for us because we won't get anyone near the calliber of Taylor with those picks.

I am kind of curious about this so called trade rumor, If the pat's want taylor so bad why aren't they negotiating with us? They have to know there is a 80% chance that we will take him, if they cut a deal with us thier pretty much assured to get him. i am just surprised we haven't heard any rumor's to that effect.

I thought the Skins didnt want that offer, so they offered Ty Law as well. Both of those could be rumors but its what I heard.

If Belichick sees something so special in this kidd to give up all that there is something special about him. Belicgick has a proven eye for talent on the deffensive side of the ball. Unles we get an offer like that there is no reason we shouldnt draft him!

why would we want to stick at the #5 spot to pick up ONE player, even if he is as good as reported, when we could get multiple good if not possibly pro-bowl players to fill the multiple holes we need filled? It's kinda like a boat with a few leaks, why only plug one leak when you can plug up several? I know Taylor has the potential to be a very good safety, but I'd rather have an all around strong team. It just seems like smart business and managing to me to make the team better at several spots rather than just one. That's a lot to be hoping for one player, a rookie on top of that, to be the saving grace of our defense. plus the contracts of the picks we'd draft in a trade for the #5 selection combined would probably be about the same, if not cheaper, than the one contract given to Taylor.

maybe this question can help, if you knew that taylor was going to be the next ronnie lott would you draft him at #5? I don't know any one who wouldn't, well this kid has lott like instinct's, with more physical ability, he may not turn out to be as good as lott, but he has the talent to possibly be better! |
