TO Wants To Play

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2217740

So, TO has apologized to the world and wants to come back. I say screw him. All this is is a desperate attempt by Rosenhaus to try to put back the pieces of what TO has already destroyed. If I'm the Eagles, I let him sit out the year, then cut his tail.

TO has blown any chances he ever had for a huge payday (*if* you don't consider his last one one). What a moron.

Re: TO Wants To Play

This isn't going to happen, but...

If it does, the Eagles are the most gutless organization in football. They will have sold their dignity for the chance to win one or two extra games this season.

Re: TO Wants To Play

I would hope that this whole situation humbles TO, even though it won't. He sets a bad example for all of sports, I'm glad the Eagles turned their backs on the "Me First" NFL player of today and are moving toward a more team oriented situation. Hopefully no one will pick him up (that wont happen) let him sulk in the corner and give him no attention. What happened to all of the great player who would go out and do their job? I think it really all changed when Michael Irvin came into the game, he set the mold for the whiny overpaid and overrated players of today. Fedex fans said it best Sunday night "F**k TO!"

Re: TO Wants To Play

Here's his entire apology and he did not leave anyone out this time

"As you know, I have been suspended and I told that I cannot play football for the rest of the season. I am a football player and this is what I do," said Owens, reading a prepared statement. "It really hurts me not to be part of the team anymore. I came here to help the Eagles get to the Super Bowl and win the big game.

"When I got hurt last year, and everyone said my season was over, I fought hard to prove the world was wrong and do everything possible, including risk my career, to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

"And I think the mentality that I have, my greatest strength can also be my greatest weakness. I'm a fighter -- I've always been and I'll always be. I fight for what I think is right. In doing so, I alienated a lot of my fans and my teammates.

"To those fans who supported me through these tough times, I thank you for your support. To every single Philadelphia Eagles fan out there that cheered for me, I want you to know that I am sorry this has happened. To you, I apologize.

"To my teammates, a lot of you have been a friend to me and I appreciate that. I can't tell you how much I wanted to fight along your side to take this team to victory. It was very painful for me not to be there with you against the Redskins last weekend, and it was more painful for me now that I won't be there with you Monday night.

"Also, I would like to reiterate my respect for Donovan McNabb as a quarterback and as a teammate. I apologize to him for any comments that may have been negative.

"To my head coach, Andy Reid, I owe you an apology. You and I were in a tough spot this year. I know you were just trying to coach this team and we did not see eye to eye sometimes. On the practice field and on game day, you knew you could count on me to give my very best. We had a lot of wins together, and I thank you for that. I respect you as a coach and as a person.

"To Joe Banner (team president) and Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie (Chairman/CEO), I understand that all along you were trying to do what you believed was in the best interest of the team, the Philadelphia Eagles. I apologize to the both of you.

"As I said before, this is very painful for me to be in this position. I know in my heart that I can help the team win the Super Bowl and not only be a dominant player, but also be a team player. I can bring that.

"In closing, I want everybody to know that football is my passion. I've always given it my all and I will continue to do so."

Then Rosenhaus took the stand and told the media that he felt the media did not portray Owens in the proper light. Rosenhaus refused to answer many of the questions, including one that asked, "Would he be in this position today if it weren't for you?" Another question Rosenhaus did not answer: "You've been with Terrell for five months, what have you done for him other than getting him kicked off the team?"

Rosenhaus said he hoped the Eagles would re-consider the suspension and the decision that Owens would not play the remainder of the season for the team. In fact, Rosenhaus said, he hoped Owens would practice on Wednesday and be with the team for Monday night's game against the Cowboys.

"He wants to play football for the Philadelphia Eagles. He wants to play right away," said Rosenhaus. Bla, bla bla, bla bla bla boo hoo boo hoo but on Wensday when I come back we can talk about that new contract, you here.

Re: TO Wants To Play

Too little too late. This shouldn't change the fact that he isn't a team player. Say goodbye to your big payday T.O. Say goodbye!

Re: TO Wants To Play

He's only sorry for one reason, the money he stands to lose from this.

Screw him, I really hope the Eagles don't give in and reinstate him.

Re: TO Wants To Play

TO little, TO late. The Eagles have a golden oppurtunity to send a message to T.O., Cancer Rosenhaus, and any imitators that may be in the offing. It will do future player/team negotiations much good. I hope they don't blow it!

Re: TO Wants To Play

remember if to is suspended for 4 games, thats alittle over $800,000.00 in salary.he also has a clause in his contract that if he is suspended by the team for at least 1 game he has to return $1.275 million dollars in bonus.so today was "all about the money"

Re: TO Wants To Play

The best thing that can happen for TO is that he seek the help he so desperately needs. I have been watching pro-football for a long, long time, and I have never witnessed anything like this guy. He's surely one of a kind. It's true that his BS apology is all about the money he realizes' he's going to miss, and the best thing that can happen is that the Eagles continue to make an example of him. The team just didn't realize how "CRAZY" this guy really is.

Re: TO Wants To Play

The Eagles are apparently not going after the bonus money. The party line is that they just want to be rid of Owens, but I suspect it's more that they don't want to look like cheapskates with potential future free agents.

Re: TO Wants To Play

Notice the timing. Now that he doesn't have to face our secondary Owens wants to play again. If they let him back and he has another "meltdown" before our next game, we'll know what the score is.

Re: TO Wants To Play

good one JET. I agree with the others, if the Eagles let up now, they've basically said they're soft. You have to make an example out of him.
