It sure is painful. There are some in my family of 'Skins fans who think Taylor did that on purpose. I don't think he did.
That video makes me queasy. |

Yea, absolutely no way he did that on purpose. LT was clearly shaken up about the whole deal.

Ok guys, if you are old enough to remember watching that hit live.....where were you and who were you with? You know, the ole I remember when JFK was shot kind of thing. I'll go first.... I was 16, at home watching with my Dad on probably a 19 inch TV, and I got sick to my stomach... and they kept showing it over, and over, Geez!!!! I read the article and I am glad that Theisman has never seen the replay. I wish I never saw it to begin with!

Re: 20 Years ago, this date. MNF.
I was watching the game at my house with a so called friend and my wife. I remember seeing it over and over again and think we came back to win the game. I cannot remember who came in as QB. That so called friend got hooked up with my then wife when we got seperated. They latter got married and he got everything he deserved. She has now been married 6 time sense we were married and I think he's still paying her money.

I was in college at East Carolina. I watched the game in my dorm and cried when he got hurt. He was my favorite player and I knew his career was over.

Re: 20 Years ago, this date. MNF.
Wow, 20 years have gone by, that's just crazy.
That means I was 12. I remember watching the game, back then my Mom would only let me watch the first half of MNF, unless the Skins were playing then I could stay up. What I really remember is how they kept showing the replay over and over and over. They just don't do that anymore with freak injuries like that, and it's probably because of that night and the overkill of the replays. I also remember that Joey T. up to that point was having a crappy season so a small part of me wasn't sad to see Schroeder take over, even though he was a complete unknown at that point. |

Re: 20 Years ago, this date. MNF.
I was 10 at the time, watching the game with my brother. I knew it was a bad injury but not as bad as it turned out to be. I remember Schroeder getting everyone pumped with that 40 yard bomb to Art Monk right after he came into the game.
And, for those of you who say Gibbs never takes risk, anyone remember how, with the game tied, he called for a onside kick to start the second half...all that and more in an upcoming edition of Redskins Rewind (shameless plug)

TAFKAS, your memory of that game is awesome! I just remember feeling like the Skins season was over after Joe went down, that made the injury that much worse. Who knows, maybe it helped Joe out more in the long run, because I really like him as an announcer and I am looking forward to him joining Al Michaels next year.

Re: 20 Years ago, this date. MNF.
I was 12 years old, watching it on a RCA floor model, and i too would catch hell for staying up too late, but i would whine until they let me. I don't remember too many details except for them replaying it over and over. Does anyone remember Howard Cossell's halftime highlights on MNF? Absolutely the best. I think he was gone by '85.
The article in the WP was great this morning. I too enjoy Joey T. and look forward to MNF w/ him on it. There are many things in life that we learn lessons from, and can challenge us. Joe T. overcame losing his one love, and probably became a better person for it. |

Re: 20 Years ago, this date. MNF.
OUCH!!!!!! :vomit: Man that still hurts.
I was watching it with my brother and still remember feeling num. It felt like some one had shoot my dog. Sure Theismann was having an off year. But he was still one of my favorite players at the time. It took me a while to get over that one. I still have the tape of the game if anyone cares to relive the hole thing. ps. There is no way L.T meant to do that. Just watch his reaction and you can see He's freeking out.
