Jacobs, however, didn't take advantage of his first start in a two-wideout set. He caught just three passes for 17 yards as the Redskins lost to the Oakland Raiders 16-13 at FedEx Field.
"It was very disappointing," Jacobs said. "The corner would be real close to you at the line of scrimmage, and at the snap of the ball, most of the time, he would turn around and start running.
"One of their corners runs 4.2, and the other one runs 4.4. When they turn around and start running, what do you do?"

Now tell me this sounds like a guy whos gonna put up huge numbers for us while he is so loaded with confidence.

Couldnt agree with you more jroc. Didnt seem to me that he really went after the ball aggressively. ALot of the balls were thrown right towards my corner endzone (129) seats, and it looked like he and the corner were just running together. He never really tried hard to actually get the ball. THen he committed some penalties. I guess we have to wait and see what happens.

the part that gets me is "what do you do" ... are you f'n kidding me?? Tell your f'n qb and audible to a 10 to 12 yard comeback route... something shit, dont ask the freakin media "what do you do". To me, you just said you dont belong in the NFL.

Part of it had to be jitters and you have to hope he picks it up. What else can we do? Call TO? :tongue

I thought that the playcalling could have helped here. A comeback or a slant to the middle would have helped. Why was he just given straight fly routes?

The problem is simple.

They double team Santana, leaving the rest of the secondary exposed, and we do nothing.

We double team Randy, and Porter has a field day.

Someone's gonna have to step up as the #2 receiver or Santana might not catch another pass all year.

We should have kept McCants, at least he showed that he could play in the NFL and get open. I know he is only a Special teams player in Philly, but why cut a promising WR when you really dont have any capable WRs to speak of, other than Moss?

I think Taylor did fine for the most part. His lack of big yardage should be blamed on the coaches. Honestly, there were three plays long play they threw to him and every time the CB was with him and was getting safety help. The coaches should have adjusted his routes to go across the middle or cut the routs shorter and then throw the long bomb.

The problem is, the "what do you do?" attitude is not the attitude of a gamer. What he basically said was "I can't get open". No self respecting wide receiver would openly admit to the media that he is unable to make a play. Was he talking about the 1985 Bears or the 1986 Giants? Who is this clown kidding…the Raiders have one of the worst secondaries in the league. They crowd the line and then turn and run…blah blah blah…one of them runs a 4.2! Who the f is he kidding with these f-in excuses? If the corner just turned and ran on every play than I guess he must have had a lot of success over the middle or short since the DB was turned and running? If a DB just turns and runs down field I think even I could get open running a skinny post on him. So I think there is a little more to it than that. What… he only had 13 yards? Thos DB’s kept him to 13 yards by just turning and running. Just tell me you played a terrible game…don’t give me excuses like I don’t know what shape the football is.
