Bulger Out for Season

Len Pastabelly recently reported that Marc Bulger is likely out for the season with a shoulder injury. If that is the case, we have a decent shot of going 9-7 or even 10-6.

In the words of GWB, I'm a flip-flopper. While I criticized the team loudly after last week's loss, I think the Bulger injury bodes well for our team. Perhaps we have a shot to make it into the playoffs. I have no illusions about next week's game; we're going to lose and we'll probably lose big. However, we should take both the Rams (now that Bulger is out) and the Cards. If we lose next week and win the next two, we'll be 7-6 and have to play Cowboys at home, the Giants at home, and at the ailing Eagles.

I honestly think a 8-8 record is a guarantee, a 9-7 record probable, and a 10-6 record possible. Discuss.

I like the optomism, but when you lose to the raiders at home it's hard to look at any matchup and be confident.

Where will the teams frame of mind be if they lose a 3rd straight to the Chargers? I am not confident they can dig their way out if they fall under 500 even if the schedule is favorable. I think they need the chargers game badly. I can't see them doing any better than 8-8 without winning the chargers game.

That's very true....that's whats gotten me down.

But Bulger being out could give us the upper hand.

OK we lost the raiders at home, woooopty f'n do, i know they suck, i know we must look like we suck but we have played and won some tough games, one could even argue that we have beaten the top three NFC teams in the first 3 weeks of the season. I know we lost some that we 'should' have won but we lost some that we 'should' not have won. We aren't as bad as we seem, hopefully this week we show that

but bulger being out for the season.... oh oh oh oh hooooooo how unfortunate

Hey, the Giants lost to MINNESOTA at home. Anything is possible.

i dont understand why everyone thinks that the raiders are absolute trash. almost all of their games have been tight. they beat dallas and were close on some others. SD is going to be a lot tougher yes; but i really do think that WAS will show up and get the W.

I seem to remember a lot of people licking their chops over the thought of Gregg Williams making life miserable for Chris Simms.

What could possibly make anyone think that our chances are so much better in St. Louis with Jamie Martin having all day to throw to Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt?

at this point with a five and five record and the divisional opponents lined up...if we make the playoffs it will be because we belong there and if we dont make it we wont belong in the playoffs. we have to: beat the teams were suppose to beat: st. louis...we have to beat the tough teams: the Chargers...and you have to win inside your division...in order to make the playoffs. Stop making predictions about the future becuase we are about to see exactly what the skins are made of.

Re: Bulger Out for Season

Playing a team with a chip on its shoulder is a dangerous thing. I know that the past two weeks have been rough, but Sunday was our first loss at home. I think the guys are gonna take offense to that, and somebody's gonna have to pay. Antonio Gates is not 100%. The Eagles D held LT to 7 rushing yards. I really think that if guys hunker down and play with a little bit of an attitude then we have a good chance of winning this game. This is the 2nd time I'm gonna say it again: I GUARANTEE WE WIN THIS SUNDAY

1. Because it is Jamie Martin
2. Because Holt and Bruce are less than 100%
3. Because, unlike the Bucs, the Rams have a God-awful defense
4. Because the Rams, as a team and organization, are an absolute mess

We will worry about that game when it gets here.

.....we completely disregarded Chris Simms, and look what he did to us. If we can't start putting pressure on the quarterback and hitting him continually (not once or twice the whole game). Then they're going to have a field day with us.

-- I might concede point #1, but remember, Chris Simms wasn't performing all that great either until he played the Redskins.

-- Bruce and Holt have been nicked up, but from what I've heard their status is improving. Judging by the way our defense has played at least in terms of pass rush and pass defense, I'd be concerned with those two receivers no matter what their physical condition is.

-- "Because, unlike the Bucs, the Rams have a God-awful defense." -- I wasn't referring to the Rams' defense in my original post. I responded to the notion that our chances will be better since Jamie Martin is playing and not Marc Bulger. Even so, the Raiders defense left much to be desired and stymied the Redskins throughout the game.

-- "Because the Rams, as a team and organization, are an absolute mess." -- OK, but that doesn't always translate on the field. Even teams that are considered an absolute mess can get it together on any given Sunday against an unsuspecting opponent. And I would dispute that the Rams are in shambles anyway.
