Portis NOT overrated!!!

I'm glad we can put that topic to rest. Crucial push by Clinton after being smacked at the line to get a first down sealing the game. Great game Portis keeping us alive into December!!!

Yeah. Sealing up the win in the final moments by gaining a first down. Too bad it's the only the second time since week one against Chicago that he's done that.

The running game by itself is still not enough to pick up the slack for a poor passing attack.

The real hero was Antonio Brown.

Re: Portis NOT overrated!!!

did those time sucking drives where Portis carried the load dutifully down after down not happen? did that sole offensive TD he made not happen?

i swear, i dont get this insane conspiracy to dismiss all of Portis's efforts this season.

there is more than one hero from this game.

plus did anyone see that one block he made by practically throwing his body through the air to stop the blitzer? and it was absolutely amazing to watch his TD run with him holding onto the back of Sellers jersey for dear life and it allowed him to maintain his balance and dance along the sideline into the endzone. Mad props from me to Portis for todays game.

People who can't appreciate Portis are just blind IMO.

Time sucking drives? In the fourth quarter, there were four Redskin offensive drives:

1-10-WAS6 (15:00) M.Brunell pass to S.Moss pushed ob at WAS 11 for 5 yards (L.Reid).
2-5-WAS11 (14:25) C.Portis left tackle to WAS 12 for 1 yard (A.Wilson).
3-4-WAS12 (13:46) M.Brunell pass to C.Portis to WAS 17 for 5 yards (D.Macklin).
1-10-WAS17 (13:03) C.Portis right tackle to WAS 19 for 2 yards (K.Dansby).
2-8-WAS19 (12:23) M.Brunell pass to C.Portis to WAS 25 for 6 yards (L.Reid).
3-2-WAS24 (11:38) (Shotgun) M.Brunell FUMBLES (Aborted) at WAS 21, recovered by WAS-J.Jansen at WAS 24. J.Jansen to WAS 24 for no gain (K.Dansby).
4-3-WAS24 (11:02) D.Frost punts 52 yards to ARZ 24, Center-E.Albright. R.Swinton to ARZ 29 for 5 yards (M.Bowen).

Clinton Portis -- 2 carries, 3 yards. Total time "sucked" : 3 minutes, 58 seconds.

Washington Redskins at 10:05
1-10-WAS33 (10:05) C.Portis right tackle to WAS 34 for 1 yard (O.Huff).
PENALTY on ARZ-A.Smith, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at WAS 33 - No Play.
1-5-WAS38 (9:41) C.Portis right end to WAS 37 for -1 yards (C.Okeafor).
2-6-WAS37 (8:54) M.Brunell pass to C.Portis to WAS 42 for 5 yards (O.Huff).
3-1-WAS42 (8:12) M.Brunell pass incomplete to C.Cooley.
4-1-WAS42 (8:06) D.Frost punts 48 yards to ARZ 10, Center-E.Albright, downed by WAS.

Clinton Portis - 2 carries, 0 yards. Total time "sucked": 2 minutes, 1 second.

Washington Redskins at 05:54
1-10-WAS20 (5:54) C.Portis right tackle to WAS 20 for no gain (T.Bulman).
2-10-WAS20 (5:12) C.Portis up the middle to WAS 19 for -1 yards (J.Darling).
3-11-WAS19 (4:29) M.Brunell pass incomplete to S.Moss.
4-11-WAS19 (4:24) D.Frost punts 42 yards to ARZ 39, Center-E.Albright. R.Swinton to ARZ 49 for 10 yards (R.Cartwright). Penalty on WAS-M.Sellers, Ineligible Downfield Kick, declined.
PENALTY on ARZ-A.Francisco, Illegal Block Above the Waist, 10 yards, enforced at WAS 49.

Clinton Portis - 2 carries, -1 yard. Total time "sucked": 1 minute, 30 seconds

Washington Redskins at 01:59
1-10-WAS28 (1:59) M.Brunell pass to R.Royal to WAS 46 for 18 yards (J.Darling).
1-10-WAS46 (1:56) C.Portis up the middle to WAS 49 for 3 yards (A.Wilson).
2-7-WAS49 (1:52) C.Portis right end to 50 for 1 yard (R.Kolodziej).
3-6-50 (1:47) C.Portis up the middle to ARZ 43 for 7 yards (J.Darling, O.Huff).

Clinton Portis - 3 carries, 11 yards. On this drive, it was the first time since week one when the Skins fed the ball to Portis, with the lead in hand, and he got the yardage necessary to seal the win. However, the statistics say that Portis, until that final 7-yard run on third and 6, is not and has not been the right running back to finish out games and "suck" time off the clock. If anyone thinks that the "heroics" Portis gave us against the inept Cardinals will be enough against the Cowboys or Giants, they're in for a serious letdown.

Re: Portis NOT overrated!!!

you must really have an irrational hate for Clinton Portis to compile all that information..

AND completely dismiss the 8 MINUTE THIRD QUARTER 10 RUSH drive that ended in this game's sole offensive touchdown. Go Skins?
