Portis Endorses T.O. Coming To Washington, Would You?
Clinton Portis was at T.O.'s birthday party and when someone asked him about Owens he said that he would be a great teammate. It's sad that he thought T.O. would bring alot to the Skins.
Portis endorsed S.Moss coming to Washington and it worked out, even when everyone was pissed because he didn't come to the off-season pratice. Question: Simple yes or no, would you support T.O. in a Redskins Uniform?

If I were Gibbs I'd have him come to my office and tell him that basically if he wants to play football he does it on my terms and on a VERY short leash. Structure his contract VERY carefully and based almost entirely on incentives. He misses a team meeting: benched. Don't bring your playbook: benched. Show up with a crummy attitude: benched. Park in the wrong parking spot: benched. I think the key to TO is an unbelievably careful contract structure. Of course this only works if he has nowhere else to play and is desperate to play. My guess is there is some team out there willing to drop a lot of cash on him to give it a shot, and of course they'll end up with the same problems. It's no surprise: pay some guy $58 million or whatever his contract was and then worship him like some kind of god and yeah, you'll get an arrogant primadonna - no shocker there. SOMEone has to bring this guy back down to earth. |

I have this sneaky feeling that T.O. will be with Michael Vick next year. If they had someone like him, their offense would be very difficult to stop. But, then again T.O. would probably get mad everytime he thought he was open and Vick took off running!

I do feel that TO will be in Atlanta next year. However, He will take what ever contract offers him the most money. No question TOs ability on the field is unmatched. But he is 31 and will be 32 next season. Generally WRs lose a step here and there when getting that old. Exception of a few, and TO could be one of the exceptions. But I just cant see the atitude coming here. Gibbs has worked so hard in getting a unity amongst these guys that TO, i believe would cause that to go down the toiler. Especially the first time the offense goes into a slump and he isn't getting "his balls". Or the D, gives up some games like it did in that stretch. I dont think the fans would really welcome him either. I still remember going to games when Dieon was here and he was mostly booed from out fans. Just dont think is a wise decision.

Honestly, if there was stuff written in his contract about voiding it if he does somthing detrimental to the team, as a big of a peice of crap I think that guy is.....I think he could be exactly what this team needs.

NO, NO & NO.
How many more teams does this guy have to burn before people finally wake up and realize he is nothing but a cancer and a selfish media whore. |

Where's the poll?
I vote no. His size and skills are undeniably intriguing, but this team is starting to create its own identity, and he would crush that. |

Re: Portis Endorses T.O. Coming To Washington, Would You?
When all this TO stuff started up a few weeks ago I said TO would be a good pick up for the skins and was told by everyone on this site I was nuts and no way would this happen. Now CP comes out and say TO would be a good get for the skins. There is a real chance this will happen because a main player on the team (speaking for more than himself I'm sure) think TO would work and the owner loves free agents and loves to spend money on them.
TO was not a problem last year with Philly and put his career on the line in the Super Bowl. Had the Eagles given him the $ TO would not have been a problem this year and Philly would be in the playoff hunt. All the Skins have to do is give TO a 1 year deal, pay him the $ then sit back and enjoy the TDs. Its a cant lose for the Skins. |

This is an excerpt from the ExtremeSkins chat with Joe Bugel. Doesn't look like Gibbs is interested at all.

I don't see it happening. As for my own personal opinion, his disruptions would only be worth dealing with if we could have him for less than $2 million per season. That of course would NEVER happen. So basically no, I don't want any part of him. |

TO took the pay to play in Philly. Philly took TO at a salary they were comfortable with? Why should they give him more when he agreed to less? What's to stop him from doing this every year for the next few years? Quote:

Thats why I recommended giving TO a 1 year deal. TOs problems come along when he stays in one place for awhile. If the skins wanted to keep him after 1 year they could sign a new deal if not, say goodbye. Like I said, cant lose. Players extorting teams is the whole basis of free agency. I guess you never heard of players and teams renegotiating contracts, heres a news flash, it happens all the time but for some reason Philly decided to play hard a$$ and sacrificed the season to prove a point. |

TO and good teammate should never be mentioned in the same breath. I don't know how anyone can look at this guy's antics and say yeah, I'd want that on my team. Please. |

Neither Philly nor TO said "Let's play one year on this contract and then revisit it to see if it's fair." TO wasn't in his last year of his contract, and there wasn't a salary cap reason to redo his contract. TO threw a hissy-fit and held out for more money, and Philly's front office, much to their credit, said "no player is bigger than the team". |
