I want TE's and WR's knocked out of games. I want sacks in bunches. I want them to cook me breakfast. You get the idea. Guess my expectations are a little higher than most considering we spent our precious draft picks on safeties. I know they won't let me down.

On the other hand - I totally agree that London Fletcher has been key to our improved defense. I didn't even realize that Marcus Washington wasn't in the game last week - until it was over. WOW!

I think he's a role player, like Smoot. I credit his "improvement" this year to LL/ST more than to any actual increased ability on his part. Rogers still looks lost half the time when the ball comes his way.

Still, though, with LL/ST/Springs back there, it's OK to have a role player on the #2 receiver most of the time.

Re: How is LaRon Landry progressing?

The best way to gauge any of our defensive players is by the complete job the entire unit does.

Think the linebacking corps looks better? That's partly because the line is getting more pressure, and the secondary isn't forcing them into extra coverage.
Think the safeties are doing well? Without the improvements up front, they'd be playing too close - and without healthy and active corners, they'd be attempting to double receivers, rather than playing soft.

My point is that the best way to look at Laron is to see what the guy next to him is doing. He's doing his own job, not covering for the kid.

Five minutes after rofl, I finally managed to get back to the screen! Great line Quake! Sometimes I think AJFC is all about the ADE, and not about the present D with LL, Smoot, ST, Rogers, LF, and RM.

I haven't seen him blow a play, miss a tackle, or even get a penalty. I think he's a polished safety doing his job and staying outta trouble.

Re: How is LaRon Landry progressing?

I'd love to see him get a pick.

I know there were about 2 of them that he could have gotten (the one at Philly where he dove and couldnt hang on to it, and one when he dove last week at Green Bay and missed the ball)

I just wish GW would blitz LaRon more, as we all know he can get to the QB and do some serious damage.

He has missed a few tackles. I can remember the one he missed on Brian Westbrook, and Westbrook turned it into a 30 yard gain. LaRon also dropped two picks, albeit they would have been very tough to make, but I expect LaRon to make those play's. Other than a few mistakes he has been very solid so far.

Landry makes plays that are smart. He doesnt look like a rookie when he plays.

Yeah, really. Towards the beginning of today's game, one of the FOX announcers said that we should expect to see Gregg Williams come at Kurt Warner early and often. I remember thinking, this guy obviously hasn't seen much of the Redskins this year -- Williams is sitting back more than he ever has.

Which brings up another question -- last year, everyone said he wasn't blitzing because the pass coverage sucked so bad. Now this year it's much better, but he's still not blitzing. What gives?

I honestly don't care our defense is playing great. If ain't broke, don't fix it. And last time I checked it isn't broke.

I think people waiting for the blitz crazy schemes of Williams will be waiting a very long time. He changed his defensive philosophy in the offseason and simplified his schemes. And so far it's tough to argue with the results.

Re: How is LaRon Landry progressing?

leave it to redskins fans to bitch about our defense. they are probably the single most factor of the skins mild success this season. if you guys really want to bitch, look at the other side of the ball
