Re: All things Redskins training camp
Per Twitter: At RG, Scherf planted JJ Watt on his ass.

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Was at camp from 830 to a lil after 10 today.
Matt jones just looks better Alfmo...seems much quicker and lively runner. Saw redd one time gettin his juke on. He looks leaner and quicker. Ryan grant and Jordan reed...look like starters. Reed...omg if he could just stay healthy, a natural. Online, first Houston dline is really good. Second Moses looks like the real deal. I saw schreff get worked a couple times on one on one drills. In pass pro I thought the starters were solid. In running game, everything to the left went fine. Running inside and inside right wasn't good. No push. Outside right wasn't bad, but I didn't see a lot of push inside...just like last year. Rg3 up and down. And of course I saw our future kicker Long looking like a badass

Would be REALLY sweet if Kouandijo played well enough to displace Lauvao. RT Moses (can flip to LT) RG Scherff (can play RT) C Lichstensteiger (can slide to G) LG Kouandijo LT Williams (All-Pro this year - Pay the man and lock him up). Back-ups: LeRib (C/G); Long (G/C); Compton (T/G); Cofield (T) [I think if AK beats out Lauvao, he is not making the team. We have plenty of younger, less expensive guys who can play the spot]. That's a young line with versatility, depth and a whole lot of nasty. [Between Scherff and Williams alone, the nastiness quotient is higher than any non-Williams OL combination we had last year]

Re: All things Redskins training camp
We'll see what happens with Brandon whether it RG or RT.
There are so many possible reasons to play him at RG especially this week. My first thought what better way to test Scherff's ability then to play him against Watt? And he'll get more work against Watt at RG then RT. Callahan wants to work his OL at different spots for depth purposes and you need to play guys at different spots to build that depth. If Moses is a better RT then Long is a RG and Scherff is good at either spot what do you do? You put the best OL out there and if its Scherff RG and Moses RT then so be it. Having a stud at RG is a huge plus for the offense and it would be huge upgrade from watching Chester get pushed 2 yarda into the backfield every snap. |

If Grant is making a push and Crowder as well, I just don't see a spot for Andre "The New 50/50" Roberts. Not sure about the Salary Cap repercussions, but both Grant and Crowder are slot type WR's and both seem competent to slide out wide as a WR4. The concern might be whether either step into the every down WR2 role if DJax or Garcon got injured? Also, if Garcon goes down for any reason, our WR corps is on the teeny, tiny smurfy side. While I got nothing against small, quick & fast WR's, an entire corps of smurfs concerns me. Potential WR depth: WR: D.Jax, Garcon, Grant, Crowder, Roberts(?), Spencer (?).

Saw Garcon catching some balls in traffic, doing a nice job. RG3 though...when he gets time to throw, he looks worse. Is that possible? Quick throws, 1st read stuff he looks fine.

Ultimately, still plenty of time in preseason to do so. I just find it odd that he would come out of the gate at RG in the inter-squad practice. I am betting that, for the last round against the Texans, Scherff will be at RT. If he is not, I would suggest that the way they envisioned the line has changed in the last few days. Not saying that's a bad thing in any way. Just interesting. Just watching the two (and, again, I know it is completely unscientific), Moses just looks the part of tackle - long, big wing span. If his technique continues to improve and is consistent, he has the physical tools to be a good to very good RT. Yup. 100% agree.

Now that would be a deadly combination: Garcon, D.Jax, Sanders. Quote:
Okay stat geeks: Has anyone broken down RGIII's QB rating based on his "time in the pocket?" i.e. - What's his rating when gets rid of the ball in under 2.5 seconds? 3.0? greater than 4.0? I expect it would be a tough stat to find/measure b/c so many factors go into how long you have in the pocket and why a pass was complete/incomplete. At the same time, I would be really interested in seeing if my perception matched reality.

Moses playing really well is no surprise, remember he was the 2nd pick of the third round so essentially a 2nd rounder he should be starting. I think that they drafted Kouandijo to be the starting LG next year and Lavauo is safe this year unless K just crushes it and then yes Lavauo is looking for work. The Nasty quotiant is awesome I am not sure why the media is upset with Scherff playing guard if you are a pro-bowler at any position outside of kicker you are worthy of the #5 overall pick and looks like a perennial pro-bowler at gaurd |

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Not sure who was saying it, but somewhere on the twitterverse, from one of the local insider types, were several comments about how AK was looking really good and taking some snaps with the 1's.
As to Scherff or Long to LG if Moses has really stepped it up and is ready to go as the starting RT -- okay. works for me. Having played line (a bazillion years ago), I would suggest it is a more difficult move from RG to LG than it is from RT to RG. Since everything works out from the center, all of a sudden your playing a mirror image of what you were doing before.

Re: All things Redskins training camp
Not sure why that is surprising. When a QBs throws quick its usually because the pre-snap read and the design of the play matched up with what happened post snap. Its after the primary is covered that things get wonky consequently most QBs have better stats when the ball is thrown quickly.
