Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
No injuries and our starting offense was solid. Kirk is smart and quick with the football and the online will be very good again with pass pro. Run game won't be our strong point of course but it will be effective enough.
Defense was good too the first 2 series. The falcons starters did nothing last night. Overall it's PS so nothing to read into. Httr Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
Particularly Ross. His great speed and good route running is worthless as long as he continues to drop passes. He needs to clean that up immediately or face the consequences.

Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
I'm surprised nobody talked about Preston Smith's performance, IMO he had a monster game!
I also feel, with our starters, run defense wasn't bad...

Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
•Lightning round: In limited snaps, OLB Preston Smith looked like a player that could control the line of scrimmage. LG Shawn Lauvao dominated on the second unit, and it's only a matter of time until he's back with the starters. Tress Way dropped great punt after great punt, rewarding him for a ton of work on coffin corner kicks in Richmond. LB Will Compton made a nice tackle early in the first quarter, showing tremendous burst to close a hole. CB Greg Toler nearly made an athletic interception in the end zone, breaking up a would-be TD instead.
•Rookie Su'a Cravens looked like a playmaker, both with the second team defense and on special teams. With four tackles, two for loss, and an impressive play in punt coverage, Cravens made the case for more opportunities. Speaking after the game, Cravens explained he has never played inside linebacker, and in his first game at the position, he impressed. Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
I just wish I could have watched it. Had it set to record on the NFL network; however, power went out around 3 am and Direct TV didn't record it. But, to hear that we had no injuries is worth it for me. On to the next game!!!

That said, Kirk looked sharp enough for a quick series. Hope holding calls don't become a "thing" again ... |

Re: Plus and Minus for First Exhibition Game
Positives:
Kirk Cousins looked the part. Pass protection by the 1s. Our secondary including Beavis and Butthead at ILB look legit. Scherff and Moses looked good. Vernon Davis is a man blocking on a running play. Cravens nose for making plays shined through. Preston Smith is going to be a baller. He is leaner and bigger at the same time. He was big and strong last year but had a soft college body, this year he looks hard. Negatives: Spencer Long looked really bad on a few plays where the defender got his hands into his chest. Our Oline looked tentative and seemed to lack aggression on some of the zone running plays. (maybe this will work itself out as they gel). The defender was reacting to the snap and getting into their chest while they were taking a half second to figure out who to block. They weren't firing off the ball in sync in the running game. Trent Murphy's spin move is a huge negative. Someone close to him should tell him to stop using it. Perry Riley's coverage skills and instincts. He lacks the instinct to take that first step in the right direction that Compton and Foster have and always seems to be playing catch up. Reserves in the secondary. There were more than a handful of plays where they looked completely lost. Our D line didn't do much to alleviate any concerns about their ability to consistently stop the run and collapse the pocket.
