So instead of overpaying for a Guard this year that we're losing anyways, I fully support getting something in return for him right now.

Except that everyone knows they can get him next year without giving up picks. There are very few teams going oh my God, if we just had that stud RG we would totally be SB contenders, we'd better trade the farm because that RG will put us over the top, for a player making $18M fully guaranteed with a 1 in 3 change of being healthy.
