I think there is more a chance that one of our existing players has a breakout season than bringing back Noah Brown. Liked the player but he had the worst injury luck imaginable. I cannot see the team rolling those dice again.

Seriously -- how idiotic. https://www.nfl.com/news/brandon-aiy...hibition-speed Right near the stadium -- you think no one will notice? I'd rather have grownups on my team.

Multiple red flags. There was a report recently that the Niners or any team could not get in contact with him. Hard to not wonder if he has fat cat syndrome. He got paid and has done nothing since then.

Diggs > Aiyuk

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?

Aiyuk timeframe update:
It is was speculated that the 49ers would drop Aiyuk after/if he reported to mandatory OTAs.

Jun 9th was a mandatory OTA, but it was just canceled by Shannahan for OTAs having 100% attendance (which isn't true as Aiyuk is on the roster)

Soo, that pushes back the next mandatory date to training camp itself around July 22nd as the first date Aiyuk could show up and become a problem, especially July 23rd which is open to the fans.

So this move pushes back an earliest possible release date by 6 weeks. If I'm Aiyuk and want to ever play in the NFL again, I start working my butt off to get into football shape and show up as a major distraction, otherwise his NFL career is over. In any case, I think it will be case closed on July 23rd when the fans show up at training camp for the 49ers. If he doesn't show, he costs them nothing and he is just perpetually a ghost trapped on the 49ers.

My opinion is we don't need someone who is unpredictable and injured, regardless of upside. I am open to Diggs, otherwise, it looks like we may roll with Terry and a ton of ???
Which likely means a losing season

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?

Now that Shanny has pushed back the Aiyuk timeline from next week to late July, I speculate that any interest in Diggs will escalate quickly. If we hear nothing the week after our OTAs close after 6/11, we are likely not interersted in Diggs at all.

It seems we are assessing WRs during our OTAs as a viable option, as I'm sure Baltimore (6/4)/Chiefs (6/3)/Rams (6/11) are too (regarding Diggs)

Unfortunately our OTAs end the latest of the group, so if others have the same idea, they could sign him sooner

I was kinda hoping for a 6/10 Aiyuk release date so the Skins could pick between the two after their OTAs were over, that ain't gonna happen now, so we must choose Diggs now or 25% chance of a viable Aiyuk much later.

I don’t think our season will come down to either signing Diggs or Aiyuk or having a losing season. (Candidly, I’m a bit more worried about our secondary.) but every year, WRs seem to come out of nowhere and play well. Alex Pierce had 30-40 catches and about 500 yards in his first two seasons and then caught fire. Nico Collins’ first two years he caught fewer than 40 passes for less than 500 yards. There are many examples of guys needing a few years before becoming major contributors- not everyone can be Nacua or Chase. If our coaches think we have one (or more) of these guys, I’ll trust their judgment. I certainly won’t assume a losing season at this point.

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?

Keep an eye on Kayshon Boutte from NE as a possible trade acquisition as their WR room is crowded. He's a deep threat guy and played with Jayden Daniels at LSU.
He's similar to Dyami in some ways as he isn't huge. He's in the last year of his rookie contract, but there is little motivation for NE to trade him other than burrying him on the depth chart as injury insurance and release after the season vs getting something for him now.

My guess is he's worth max a 5th rounder, but we likely would not give more than a 6th for such a guy, particularly one with only one year remaining.
How much better is he than our current guys? Hmmm. Not sure, but he is likely better than our current #2 wr candidates, NE obviously does not think he is a valid #2 as they signed Doubs to upgrade over him

I would consider giving them a 6th right now for him, and then extend him 2 more years, at least then we have a young guy locked in who can go deep.
But that is based on an assumption that NE's #4 is better than our #2 options

I know this is just a massive rumor at this point. But it is getting some traction

The Aiyuk story line be the weirdest in the nfl right now if not for Mike v and his infidelity

Aiyuk may be going crazy wow:

Honestly don't think this guy cares at all. Had some doubts but this confirms it. Do not want him in DC. He made a video recently shirtless with a Commanders hat on. Weirdest stuff since Antonio Brown stuff. Not saying he's Antonio Brown character but these are not good indications.

I maintain my stance Aiyuk is fat cat rich and doesn't care. SF gave him a big contract and he has basically sh*t on them.

Well, since the 49ers pushed the mandatory start date back 6 weeks to training camp, Aiyuk cannot show up and force their hand for a quick release due to being a pain in the butt, particularly when fans show up. So, what can he do to get released now? Not much. So think if it from his perspective. He's basically got two choices, be quiet and show up in 6 weeks for training camp and miss any chance to get released earlier, or be a complete pain and cause so much distraction that the 49ers say enough is enough and cut him now.
He is clearly trying the latter.
I would expect it to get worse before it gets better. He is clearly taunting them trying to force their hand. But a front office does not make mistakes like a DB would to taunting, in fact it usually responds differently because they don't live moment by moment on adrenaline. Aiyuk is screwed. He screwed up long ago, he is trapped and the more noise he makes, the more likely the 49ers make him wait. I personally do not believe the 48ers wait until Sept 1. I believe they cut him on day 2 of mandatory camp, if they don't, Aiyuk can claim a terrible injury, and all hell will break loose on social media too.
I've hear John Keim make the suggestion he act like George Costaza on Seinfeld when he tried to get fired by the Yankees by dragging their world series trophy around the parking lot.

On a positive, his most recent posts clarify he wants Washington AND wants to play, which I was unsure of. Who knows about his shape or injury, but "want to" was a major question mark that has clearly been answered. Is he a nut? possibly, but the stuff from now on should be considered just a tactic to get released.

Do I want him? Not if he is unstable, injured, out of shape or not motivated.
At least he is motivated.
