Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
I think if they got a Middle Linebacker later on in the draft and went out and signed London Fletcher as a stop gap for a year or two while that guy comes into his own, they'd be fine. He might not be a playmaker like he used to be, but he still gets a ton of tackles. If I'm Gregg Williams, I have the faith that Flet's gonna be in the right place at the right time, he'll be where I expect him to be, and he could mentor some young linebackers like Rocky.
As for D backs, they do need someone so they can do something with Springs. I don't care if it's cutting him, moving him to safety, or down on the depth chart, say to nickel back. He's a good corner, but if you can't rely on the guy to stay on the field, it's time to replace him. I feel the same way about Griffin. He can still play too, but he can't stay on the field...that and he's fallen way off of what he used to be. That was the big knock on him when he got here. He couldn't stay healthy and that's part of the reason he wasn't resigned by the Giants, if my memory serves me correctly. |

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
There are problems all over the place on D. The only thing I'll say is that if we don't address the D-line, running backs will still be in the defensive secondary running free. Even if we get better tackling by the DBs, we still have a huge problem.

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
That's another good point, I don't know what the hell Sean Taylor's problem is. He needs to learn how to take better angles and have someone put pads on him so he can start tackling again. He kinda got exposed some this season. Seems like if he can't lay you out, he can't get you down. He definitely needs to improve on both of those.

Is anyone concerned about McIntoshs size? He looks tiny out there...

He's got a lanky build but I don't see his size being any sort of a big concern. His build actually reminds me of LaVar a bit, he'll put on some weight I'm sure. |

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
im not sure if this was brought up, but how about switching to a 3-4 defense? golston at nose tackle, and then lamar doesnt have to take on as many head on blockers. it seems like you could run a variation of williams defenses off of the 3-4

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
thats why i wanted the skins to sign larry tripplett last off season. golsten is going to be good if he doesn;t level off. but tripplett and griffen would have been awesome 2 strong and quick pentrators.oh well sala ve.i like marshall and i think he's worth keeping. we do need another cb , springs isn't getting any younger and his fragility seems to have returned. the move to safety is kickin.we need a lb or 2 another d end and another tackle. plus i have become concerned over jansen. his heart and ability are as strong as ever. but he's had injury problems every year since his achillies tendon tear. we need some young bucks behind our startes to groom for the future. we can't afford to wait til we need the position filled . this team needs to look ahead as well as at the present to fill needs. another pass catching te would be nice. a safety or two. it's going to be an interesting off season. this team has alot of needs to fill.unless their pick offers them some all word player i say trade down and get picks.the skins are still my team and always will be.been it's been a ruff season.(i meant to spell it like that). but now the dreams can be rekindled again for next season. time to turn the page. thanx guys. happy new year and a safe one.

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
I AGREEE!!!! You have to start up front before gasing up Redskins One and picking up Nate Clemons. MLB and corner is a concern but get a tackle first. That's how you build a defense. But regarless of who we get it's going to take some time to rebuild the defense. It's a total mess.

Re: MLB biggest concern on defense
we need DL, a starting CB, and 2 LBs (1 for depth).
so which is most important? true #1 CBs and true stud DEs are rarely ever available, whereas you can get midlevel LBs or take them in the 2nd round and be okay. washington can play in the middle. FA is deep with LBs this year that aren't that expensive, and a true CB stud. meaning we should probably stick with trying to get DE adam gaines. if he's not there, a trade down to get two DL in the first two rounds (1 DE, 1 DT) wouldn't be a bad idea either. |
